THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES EQUAL INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEN AND WOMEN AND SERVICES TO ASSIST MEMBER INSTITUTIONS IN MAINTAINING THE INTEGRITY OF THEIR ATHLETIC PROGRAMS THROUGH THE ENFORCEMENT OF NCAA POLICIES AND CONFERENCE REGULATIONS. THE ASSOCIATION CONSISTS OF TEN MEMBER INSTITUTIONS SPANNING THE EAST COAST FROM MARYLAND TO NORTH CAROLINA, ALL OF WHICH ARE HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. THE ASSOCIATION HOLDS ONE OF THE LARGEST BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS IN THE COUNTRY, WHICH IS ITS MAJOR ACTIVITY.
