THE SOCIETY FOR IMAGING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (IMAGING.ORG) IS A PROFESSIONAL INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO KEEPING MEMBERS AND OTHERS APPRISED OF THE LATEST SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD OF IMAGING THROUGH CONFERENCES, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, PUBLICATIONS, AND ITS WEBSITE. IS&T ENCOMPASSES ALL ASPECTS OF IMAGING SCIENCE, WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON DIGITAL PRINTING, ELECTRONIC IMAGING, COLOR SCIENCE, IMAGE PRESERVATION, PHOTOFINISHING, PRE-PRESS TECHNOLOGIES, HYBRID IMAGING SYSTEMS, AND SILVER HALIDE RESEARCH.

MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES: IS&T SPONSORS NUMEROUS CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR RELATED TO THE FIELDS OF IMAGING SCIENCE AND PHOTOGRAPHY. CONFERENCES SPONSORED BY IS&T INCLUDE ARCHIVING CONFERENCE, COLOR AND IMAGING CONFERENCE, ADVANCES IN PRINTING TECHNOLOGY, ADVANCED INKJET TECHNOLOGY, LONDON IMAGING MEETING, DIGITIZING TO INTERNATIONAL IMAGING PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ELECTRONIC IMAGING.

JOURNALS AND PUBLICATIONS: JOURNAL OF IMAGING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IS PUBLISHED BI-MONTHLY TO PROVIDE THE IMAGING COMMUNITY DOCUMENTATION ON A BROAD RANGE OF IMAGING RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND APPLICATIONS AS A WAY TO PROMOTE COMMUNICATION AND UNDERSTANDING ACROSS THE BOUNDARIES OF THE MANY DISCIPLINES INVOLVED IN MODERN IMAGING. THE JOURNAL OF ELECTRONIC IMAGING PUBLISHES BI-MONTHLY PAPERS IN ALL TECHNOLOGY AREAS THAT MAKE UP THE FIELD OF ELECTRONIC IMAGING AND ARE NORMALLY CONSIDERED IN THE DESIGN, ENGINEERING, AND APPLICATIONS OF ELECTRONIC IMAGING SYSTEMS. MEMBERS RECEIVE A CHOICE OF ONE JOURNAL AS PART OF THEIR MEMBERSHIP. ADDITIONAL SUBSCRIPTIONS AND/OR SINGLE ISSUES ARE AVAILABLE FOR A FEE.
STANDARDS ACTIVITIES: IS&T OVERSEES THE STANDARDS DEVELOPED BY ISO/TC42 (THE ISO TECHNICAL COMMITTEE RESPONSIBLE FOR INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY STANDARDS) CREATED IN 1947, MORE THAN 170 INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY-RELATED STANDARDS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED BY ISO/TC42 OVER THE YEARS. THESE INCLUDE ISO 5800, FOR MEASURING THE ISO SPEED OF COLOR NEGATIVE FILMS; ISO 18921, FOR EVALUATING THE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF OPTICAL DISCS; AND ISO 15740, FOR COMMUNICATING WITH DIGITAL CAMERAS. DUES ARE COLLECTED FROM US MEMBERS OF ISO/TC42 TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAM. THERE ARE SIX LEVELS AT WHICH AN INDIVIDUAL OR COMPANY MAY JOIN.
