("RILM") WAS ORIGINALLY ORGANIZED IN 1966 AS AN INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIVE PROJECT OF THE INTERNATIONAL MUSICOLOGICAL SOCIETY (SWITZERLAND) AND THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MUSIC LIBRARIES, ARCHIVES AND DOCUMENTATION CENTRES (UNITED STATES), AS AN ORGANIZATION COMMITTED TO A COMPREHENSIVE AND ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP IN ALL COUNTRIES AND LANGUAGES AND ACROSS ALL DISCIPLINARY AND CULTURAL BOUNDARIES. RILM WAS FORMALLY INCORPORATED AS A NEW YORK NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION IN 2000. IN 2007, THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR TRADITIONAL MUSIC (AUSTRIA) JOINED AS THE THIRD SPONSORING BODY.
