STAND FOR CHILDREN IS A UNIQUE CATALYST FOR EDUCATION EQUITY AND RACIAL JUSTICE, TO CREATE A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR US ALL.

STAND FOR CHILDREN ENGAGED IN A NATIONAL MULTIFACETED CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT PASSAGE OF THE BUILD BACK BETTER ACT (BBBA). THE GOAL OF THIS CAMPAIGN WAS TO RAISE AWARENESS, AND APPROVAL, AMONG MODERATE INDEPENDENT VOTERS WITH HOUSEHOLD INCOME UNDER $400K ABOUT KEY PROVISIONS IN THE BUILD BACK BETTER ACT. KEY PROVSIONS OF BBBA HIGHLIGHTED IN THE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN WERE MAKING THE CHILD TAX CREDIT PERMANENT AND REFUNDABLE, PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY, UNIVERSAL PRE-K TO ALL 3- AND 4-YEAR-OLD CHILDREN, AND MAKING THE EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT FOR CHILDLESS ADULTS PERMANENT. DIGITAL ADVERTISING SPANNING TWO FISCAL YEARS (FY21 AND FY22) AIRED IN 17 STATES TARGETING 26 KEY ELECTED OFFICIALS. THIS RESULTED IN MORE THAN 284 MILLION IMPRESSIONS AND 545,000 INDIVIDUAL CLICK THROUGHS BY THE COMPLETION OF THE CAMPAIGN IN FY22. A FINAL SURVEY OF REGISTERED VOTERS WAS COMPLETED IN THE SIX TARGETED STATES TO MEASURE SUPPORT AGAINST THE BASELINE SURVEY CONDUCTED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CAMPAIGN. ACROSS THE BOARD THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN SUPPORT FOR THE BUILD BACK BETTER ACT; +8 IN ALASKA, +26 IN ARIZONA, +14 IN DELAWARE, +14 IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, +23 IN THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA/DC MEDIA MARKET, AND +33 IN WEST VIRGINIA.
THE STAND UP FOR EQUITY PROGRAM ORGANIZES AND ADVOCATES TO PREVENT THE PASSAGE OF ANTI-EQUITY BILLS AT THE STATE LEVEL AND PARTNERS WITH ORGANIZATIONS TO PROMOTE PRO-EQUITY CAMPAIGNS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES. THE PROGRAM WAS ACTIVE IN 3 STATES THAT SAW ANTI-EQUITY BILLS DEFEATED LOUISIANA, ARIZONA, AND INDIANA. IN INDIANA THIS MEANT JOINING TOGETHER WITH PARTNERS IN A SUCCESSFUL OPPOSITION CAMPAIGN TO DEFEAT SB167 AND H1134. IN ARIZONA, THE STATE LEGISLATURE FAILED TO PASS ANY NEW ANTI-CRT BILLS, DUE IN LARGE PART TO THE LOBBYING AND COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION EFFORTS OF STAND AND OTHER ALLIED GROUPS. ADDITIONALLY IN NEW HAMPSHIRE AND NORTH CAROLINA, STAND PARTNERS WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN THE ULTIMATE DEFEAT OF MULTIPLE ANTI-EQUITY BILLS.
IN ARIZONA, STAND FOR CHILDREN WAS A KEY PARTNER AND SPONSOR OF PROPOSITION 208, THE INVEST IN EDUCATION INITIATIVE. PROPOSITION 208 PASSED IN NOVEMBER OF 2020 AND WAS EXPECTED TO RAISE $940M PER YEAR TO HELP ADDRESS THE STATE'S TEACHER SHORTAGE CRISIS, HIRE ADDITIONAL COUNSELORS, NURSES, SOCIAL WORKERS, AND AIDES AND DOUBLE THE STATE'S INVESTMENT IN CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION COURSES. STAND FOR CHILDREN'S CONTRIBUTIONS INCLUDED CO-LEADING THE INVEST IN EDUCATION CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES INCLUDING PAID MEDIA, EARNED MEDIA, AND TARGETED VOTER CONTACT. IN THE FALL OF 2021 THROUGH THE SPRING OF 2022, STAND FOR CHILDREN WAS A KEY PARTNER IN THE DEFENSE OF THE VOTER-APPROVED INITIATIVE IN THE COURTS AND AT THE LEGISLATURE, AS IT CAME UNDER FIRE BY OPPONENTS AND ULTIMATELY LOST AT THE AZ SUPREME COURT. STAND WAS ALSO A KEY PARTNER IN FILING A REFERRENDUM AGAINST A BILL THAT REDUCED INCOME TAX RATES IN ARIZONA WHICH WAS ULTIMATELY REJECTED BY THE AZ STATE SUPREME COURT. STAND TURNED THOSE LOSSES INTO A SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN TO SECURE $1 BILLION IN NEW EDUCATION FUNDING THROUGH THE STATE BUDGET. STAND ALSO SUCCESSFULLY DEFEATED A BILL THAT WOULD RESTRICT ACADEMIC FREEDOM AND TEACHERS' AUTONOMY. STAND AZ ALSO LED AN UNSUCCESSFUL EFFORT TO PROHIBIT ADMINISTRATIVE FEES ADDED ON TO A JUVENILE ACCOUNT IN JUVENILE COURT.
