THE MISSION OF VENETIAN HERITAGE IS TO ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT ARTISTIC AND INTELLECTUAL INITIATIVES AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE BETWEEN THE U.S. AND ITALY; TO SAFEGUARD VENETIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE AS MANIFESTED IN ARCHITECTURE, MUSIC AND FINE ARTS IN VENICE AND ITS FORMER DOMINION; TO SPONSOR EXHIBITIONS, LECTURES AND CONFERENCES INTENDED TO STIMULATE INTEREST IN THE URGENT AND NEVER-ENDING NEEDS OF VENICE, AND TO FAMILIARIZE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD WITH THE PROBLEMS OF THE CITY.

FURNISHING AND RESTORATION, ROOM 5 AND 6 GALLERIE DELL'ACCADEMIA, VENICETHE GALLERIE DELL'ACCADEMIA STATE MUSEUM WAS OPENED IN 1817, MODELLED AFTER THE LOUVRE. THE COLLECTION WAS ENRICHED OVER THE COURSE OF THE 19TH CENTURY BY SOME IMPORTANT BEQUESTS AND PUBLIC PURCHASES. IT IS NOW THE TEMPLE OF VENETO PAINTINGS. THE FUNDING FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE FURNISHINGS AND RESTORATION OF 66 OLD MASTER PAINTINGS, AMONG THEM BY TIEPOLO, SEBASTIANO RICCI AND PIAZZETTA, NEVER BEFORE SEEN AND TO BE PERMANENTLY DISPLAYED, WAS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE LIAISON AU LOUVRE/LA DOLCE VITA EVENTS IN PARIS AND VENICE. THE WORK STARTED IN 2018 WITH THE RESTORATION OF THE GILDED FRAMES OF THE PAINTINGS THAT WILL BE PERMANENTLY EXHIBITED IN THE ROOM 5. WITH THE MUSEUM RECEIVING ADDITIONAL STATE FUNDING IN 2019, VENETIAN HERITAGE WAS ABLE TO EXTEND THE PROJECT TO INCLUDE ROOM 6. THE ROOMS OPENED TO THE PUBLIC IN SEPTEMBER OF 2021.THE BELLINI ALTARPIECES GALLERIE DELL'ACCADEMIA, VENICETHE FAMOUS ALTARPIECE DEPICTING THE VIRGIN IN GLORY WITH SAINTS IS A 1510-1515 OIL ON PANEL PAINTING BY GIOVANNI BELLINI AND HIS STUDIO, AND SINCE 1980 HAS BEEN DEPOSITED AT THE GALLERIE DELL'ACCADEMIA MUSEUM, DUE TO ITS PRECARIOUS STATE OF CONSERVATION. IT MEASURES 3.5M BY 2.25M. IT WAS ORIGINALLY PAINTED FOR THE CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA DEGLI ANGELI IN MURANO AND DURING THE FRENCH DOMINATION IT WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE NEARBY CHURCH OF SAN PIETRO MARTIRE, ALWAYS IN MURANO ISLAND. THE ALTARPIECE HAS BEEN SHIPPED TO FLORENCE WHERE IS NOW UNDER RESTORATION AT THE OPIFICIO DELLE PIETRE DURE IN FLORENCE, THE MOST PROMINENT PUBLIC INSTITUTE OF RESTORATION IN ITALY. THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN 2022.CONDUSSI RENAISSANCE STAIRCASE SCUOLA GRANDE SAN GIOVANNI EVANGELISTATHE MAJORITY OF THE FUNDS RAISED FROM THE 2019 BIENNALE WEEKEND WILL GO TOWARD THE RESTORATION OF THE MONUMENTAL EARLY RENAISSANCE STAIRCASE BUILT BY MAURO CODUSSI IN 1498 FOR THE SCUOLA GRANDE SAN GIOVANNI EVANGELISTA. WORK BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER 2019 AND IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED BY APRIL 2022.IL CASTIGO DEI SERPENTI BY GIAMBATTISTA TIEPOLO GALLERIE DELL'ACCADEMIA, VENICEA PORTION OF THE FUNDS RAISED FROM THE 2019 BIENNALE WEEKEND WILL FUND THE RESTORATION OF TIEPOLO'S 44- FOOT-LONG BIBLICAL-THEMED FRIEZE, WHICH WAS ROLLED AND STORED IN AN ATTIC FOR CENTURIES, CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE PAINTING'S SURFACE. THE WORK WILL BE RESTORED IN HONOR OF VENETIAN HERITAGE FOUNDER LAWRENCE LOVETT. THE RESTORED PAINTING WAS INSTALLED AT THEGALLERIE DELL'ACCADEMIA IN SEPTEMBER OF 2021.
