COMPUTER FOUNDATIONS - BYTE BACK TEACHES TWO COMPUTER FOUNDATION LEVEL COURSES, HELPING HUNDREDS OF LEARNERS A YEAR GAIN FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS IN TECHNOLOGY. THESE DIGITAL LITERACY COURSES ARE DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WITH NO OR MINIMAL COMPUTER EXPERIENCE AND FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN LEARNING MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE. IN 2020, BYTE BACK HAD 210 STUDENT ENROLLMENTS IN 20 COMPUTER FOUNDATIONS COURSES. THESE ADULTS LEARNED TO USE A COMPUTER, INTERNET, EMAIL, WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, AND OUTLOOK. CLASSES ARE OFFERED IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH AND PROVIDE THE TRAINING NECESSARY FOR AN ENTRY-LEVEL OFFICE POSITION AND/OR TO SEARCH AND APPLY FOR POSITIONS ON THE INTERNET.
CERTIFICATION - CERTIFICATION CLASSES ARE FREE, INDUSTRY-RECOGNIZED COURSES THAT PREPARE STUDENTS FOR A LIVING-WAGE CAREER THAT USES TECHNOLOGY. THEY INCLUDE COMPTIA A+, COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS, AND MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST (MOS). IN 2020, BYTE BACK ENROLLED 269 STUDENTS IN 24 CERTIFICATION COURSES, AND 70 LEARNERS EARNED CERTIFICATIONS.
JOB READINESS AND CAREER SERVICES SUPPORT- BYTE BACK OFFERS CAREER SKILLS SUPPORT TO LEARNERS IN INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED CLASSES. CERTIFICATION STUDENTS ALSO RECEIVE INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS WITH BYTE BACK SPECIALISTS TO STRATEGIZE EMPLOYMENT SEARCH NEEDS AND IMPLEMENT CUSTOMIZED JOB SEEKING SUPPORT (E.G. MENTORING, MOCK INTERVIEWS, AND RESUME WRITING). 47 STUDENTS WERE HIRED INTO NEW POSITIONS, AND THEIR ANNUAL INCOME INCREASED BY $20,558, ON AVERAGE, AFTER TAKING CLASSES AT BYTE BACK IN 2020.
