MOVING FORWARD IS DEDICATED TO NURTURING COMMUNITIES BY USING DANCE AS A MEDIUM OF CULTURAL AND SOCIAL UNDERSTANDING. IT PROVIDES A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS AND YOUTH. IN 2022, THEY PREMIERED TWO NEW WORKS AT THE NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY THAT REACHED OVER 2,000 AUDIENCE MEMBERS AND TAUGHT ASSOCIATED EDUCATIONAL CLASSES IN THE COMMUNITY. IT IS THE SMITHSONIAN'S FIRST DANCE COMPANY IN RESIDENCE NOW CELEBRATING ITS 30TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON AS WASHINGTON, DC'S PREMIERE MODERN DANCE COMPANY. OUR FREE-OF-CHARGE PERFORMANCES, OPEN REHEARSALS AND DISCUSSIONS REACHED MORE THAN 5,000 DISTRICT IN-PERSON ATTENDEES AND AN ADDITIONAL 1,500 NATIONALLY.
