PUBLIC AFFAIRS: IARD WORKED TO INCREASE UNDERSTANDING OF THE GLOBAL ALCOHOL POLICY ARENA AND VARIOUS RELATED TOPICS EMERGING IN RELEVANT MULTILATERAL FORA. THE ORGANIZATION TRACKS THESE DEVELOPMENTS AND PROVIDES REGULAR UPDATES ON THESE ISSUES.
COMMUNICATIONS
MEMBER ACTIONS AND STAKEHOLDER DIALOGUES: IARD IS CONTINUING TO WORK WITH MEMBERS, DIGITAL PLATFORMS, RETAILERS, HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY, AND OTHERS TO EMBED ROBUST RESPONSIBILITY STANDARDS. THIS INCLUDED LAUNCHING RESOURCES FOR RETAILERS AND SERVERS TO HELP AVOID SALE TO MINORS AND THOSE INTOXICATED. EFFORTS CULMINATED IN 2023 WITH THE LAUNCH OF A GLOBAL STANDARDS COALITION DEDICATED TO REDUCING HARMFUL DRINKING AND PROMOTING UNDERSTANDING OF RESPONSIBLE DRINKING. THESE AND OTHER ACTIONS HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY A SERIES OF STAKEHOLDER DIALOGUES, CONVENED BY WILTON PARK AN EXECUTIVE AGENCY OF THE UK GOVERNMENT FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE, ON EFFECTIVE WHOLE-OF-SOCIETY APPROACHES TO SUPPORT GLOBAL EFFORTS TO REDUCE THE HARMFUL USE OF ALCOHOL. IN 2023 IARD SUPPORTED THE FINAL AND CONCLUDING EVENT IN THE SERIES BY WILTON PARK.
