THE MISSION OF LEADERSHIP ANNE ARUNDEL IS TO PROVIDE PEOPLE OF DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS WITH THE EDUCATION, RESOURCES AND NETWORKS NECESSARY TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL PROACTIVE LEADERS.

ALUMNI EVENTS ARE AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF LAA AS THEY DRIVE IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. NETWORKING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EVENTS ARE PLANNED FOR MOST MONTHS AT DIFFERENT VENUES AFFORDING GRADUATES AND PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS TO SOCIALIZE AND CONTINUE TO BUILD AND STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS. MANY EVENTS ARE FREE FOR LAA MEMBERS OTHERS HAVE A NOMINAL MEMBER RATE FOR REGISTRATION. MOST EVENTS ARE ALSO OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS. REGULAR LAA EVENTS INCLUDE SIGNATURE EVENTS ALUMNI HOMECOMING PROGRAM KICKOFF, HOLIDAY PARTY, NEW LEADERS RECEPTION, TRIBUTE TO COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP CELEBRATION, LEADERSHIP SPEAKERS SERIES FORUM EVENTS CONVERSATIONS ON LEADERSHIP, A LAA PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, WOMENS EXECUTIVE FORUM EVENTS, ALUMNI FORUM EVENTS, LAA 101 AND PARTNER EVENTS.
THE FLAGSHIP PROGRAM IS THE CORE LEADERSHIP ANNE ARUNDEL PROGRAM. IT INCLUDES AN INTENSE CURRICULUM OF CIVIC INFORMATION AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS DEVELOPMENT. EACH YEAR APPROXIMATELY 30-45 INDIVIDUALS ARE SELECTED FOR THIS COMPREHENSIVE, HANDS-ON, MULTI-DISCIPLINARY STUDY OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY. THE PROGRAM THEN BEGINS IN SEPTEMBER AND GRADUATES IN JUNE, MEETING MONTHLY THROUGHOUT THE COURSE. THE CLASS IS COMPOSED OF A CROSS-SECTION OF THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY COMMUNITY, REPRESENTING OUR ETHNICALLY, SOCIALLY, ECONOMICALLY, AND GEOGRAPHICALLY DIVERSE POPULATION.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERSHIP ACADEMY NLA IS TARGETED TO CURRENT AND EMERGING GRASSROOTS LEADERS IN NEIGHBORHOODS THROUGHOUT ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, PROVIDING RESIDENTS OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY COMMUNITIES WITH SKILL-BASED LEADERSHIP TRAINING. NLA HELPS PARTICIPANTS BECOME ADEPT IN LEADERSHIP ROLES BY FOCUSING ON IMPROVING SKILLS SUCH AS EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS AND BUILDING CONSENSUS. IT IS THE ONLY PROGRAM OF ITS KIND IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND. NLA BEGINS IN JANUARY, MEETS FOR SIX SESSIONS AND GRADUATES IN JUNE.
