OAK HILL HOUSE - FOUNDED IN 1970, THE GROUP HOME TODAY PROVIDES SERVICES FOR UP TO 14 ADOLESCENT MALES, RANGING FROM 14-18 YEARS OF AGE. THIS IS A SHORT-TERM GROUP HOME, OFTEN PROVIDING CARE FOR 9 MONTHS OF THE YOUTH'S LIFE. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE IS FOR FAMILY REUNIFICATION AND INTEGRATION BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITY, AND TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF THE LARGER SOCIETY. ONE OF THE MAIN THRUSTS OF THIS PROGRAM IS FAMILY, BECAUSE THEY ARE IMPORTANT, THERE ARE FAMILY SESSIONS HELD TWICE A MONTH IN THE FAMILY HOME REGARDLESS WHERE THAT HOME IS IN MARYLAND. IN ADDITION, THREE TIMES A YEAR THERAPEUTIC FAMILY WEEKENDS ARE HELD ON THE GROUNDS OF THE OAK HILL HOUSEPROGRAM. LASTLY, IT IS IMPORTANT TO STRESS THAT THE BOYS GO HOME ON A REGULAR BASIS SO THAT THE BOYS AND THEIR FAMILIES CAN PRACTICE THE SKILLS THAT THEY ARE LEARNING.
OAK HILL HOUSE SCHOOL - THE SCHOOL IS LOCATED ON THE GROUNDS OF OAK HILL HOUSE. THE ADOLESCENTS WHO LIVE AT OAK HILL HOUSE GROUP HOME ATTEND THIS ON-GROUNDS SCHOOL. THE OAK HILL HOUSE SCHOOL IS LICENSED AS A GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM, GRADES 7-12, THROUGH MARYLAND STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. THE MAIN GOAL FOR THE SCHOOL IS TO HELP THE ADOLESCENTS GET EXCITED ABOUT THEIR EDUCATION, AND WANT TO LEARN AGAIN, WITH A SUPPORTIVE STAFF AND SMALL CLASS SIZES TO ASSIST WITH THIS ENDEAVOR.
