NORTH COUNTY FARMER'S MARKET & EXTENSION OF THREE NOTCH TRAIL - IN JULY 2019, RC&D EXECUTED AN MOU WITH ST. MARY'S COUNTY TO BE THE PROJECT MANAGER FOR THE DESIGN, ENGINEERING, AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW REGIONAL FARMER'S MARKET COMPLEX IN CHARLOTTE HALL, MD.
OTHER PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE VARIOUS PROJECTS WITH STATE AND LOCAL COUNTY GOVERNMENTS.
NRCS / RC&D PARTNERSHIP CONSERVATION TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (SOIL TECHNICIANS & PROGRAM SUPPORT SPECIALISTS): RC&D HAS AN ACTIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH NRCS TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO THE LOCAL SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF MARYLAND. DURING FY 22, RC&D EMPLOYED SIX (6) INDIVIDUALS THAT WERE BASED OUT OF LOCAL SOIL CONSERVATION OFFICES THROUGH THE STATE, AND MANAGED BY NRCS STAFF. THE POSITIONS INCLUDE 1 SOIL TECHNICIAN, 3 PROGRAM SUPPORT SPECIALISTS, 1 GRAZING SPECIALIST AND 1 FORESTER.
RURAL LEGACY / REPI CONSERVATION EASEMENT PROGRAM: RC&D HAS PARTNERED WITH THE COUNTY, THE STATE, & THE NAVY TO ADMINISTER EACH OF THEIR LAND PRESERVATION PROGRAMS IN ST. MARYS AND CALVERT COUNTIES. RC&D WORKS CLOSELY WITH EACH OF THE PARTNERS, AND THE LANDOWNERS, TO NEGOTIATE, PROCESS, AND MONITOR LAND PRESERVATION EASEMENTS. IN ORDER TO EFFECTIVELY ADMINISTER THE LAND PRESERVATION PROGRAMS, RC&D TEMPORARILY UTILIZES A PORTION OF ITS OPERATING CAPITAL OR SECURE THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY THE FUNDING ORGANIZATIONS DURING THE DUE-DILIGENCE PERIOD. THOSE FUNDS, IDENTIFIED AS INCIDENTALS, IS REIMBURSED TO RC&D FROM DNR ONCE THE EASEMENT IS APPROVED AT THE STATE LEVEL. RC&D CONTINUED TO COMPLY WITH ALL REPORTING REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL THREE FUNDING ORGANIZATIONS.
