THE GRACIES- AWMF HONORS PROGRAMMING THAT IS CREATED FOR WOMEN, BY WOMEN AND ABOUT WOMEN, AS WELL AS INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE MADE EXEMPLARY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE INDUSTRY. THE GRACIES ENCOURAGE AND HONOR THE REALISTIC AND FACETED PORTRAYAL OF WOMEN IN ENTERTAINMENT, NEWS, FEATURES AND OTHER PROGRAMS. THE GRACIES GALA BRINGS TOGETHER INDUSTRY LUMINARIES, BROADCSTING AND CABLE PROFESSIONALS, AND JOURNALISM STUDENTS WHO GATHER TO CELEBRATE THE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS OF THEIR COLLEAGUES AND PEERS. WINNERS IN NATIONAL CATEGORIES ARE HONORED AT AN EVENING EVENT, WHILE LOCAL, STUDENT AND DIGITAL AND PUBLIC BROADCASTING WINNERS ARE HONORED AT A LUNCHEON THAT IS HELD AT A LATER DATE AFTER THE EVENING EVENT.
PUBLIC SERVICE CAMPAIGN- AWMF TELLS THE STORIES OF INSPIRING WOMEN FROM AMERICAN HISTORY WITH ITS EMPOWERING AMERICA PROGRAM. THIS INSPIRING CAMPAIGN CONVEYS IMPORTANT EDUCATION ABOUT THE HISTORY OF PIONEERING AMERICAN WOMEN. THE EMPOWERING AMERICA CURRICULUM FEATURES AMERICAN FEMALE ICONS WHO HAVE BLAZED TRAILS IN DIVERSE AREAS SUCH AS PUBLIC SERVICE, SCIENCE, SOCIAL REFORM, SPORTS, LITERATURE, BROADCASTING, MUSIC AND AVIATION. AWMF USES THE EMPOWERING AMERICA PROGRAM TO SHARE THE STORIES OF THESE AMAZING WOMEN WITH UNDERPRIVILGED MIDDLE SCHOOLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY FUND, WE DEVELOPED EDUCATIONAL COLLATERAL AND PUT IT IN THE HANDS OF TEACHERS TO STIMULATE AND ENHANCE CLASSROOM CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THESE FEMALE ICONS.
AMWF PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO COLLEGE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS PURSUING CAREERS IN JOURNALISM, COMMUNICATIONS, FILM AND/OR THE MEDIA INDUSTRY. DURING 2021, THE FOLLOWING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED BY AWMF: (I) THE LOREEN ARBUS FOUNDATION FOCUS ON DISABILITY SCHOLARSHIP, WITH THE THEME "A DIFFERENT LENS AND (II) THE "EMERGING VOICES" SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM CONSISTING OF TWO $2,000 SCHOLARSHIPS, MADE PAYABLE DIRECTLY TO EACH STUDENT'S EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION IN THE NAME OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY FUND. AMWF ALSO PARTNERS WITH THE NATIONAL CABLE TELECOMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION (NCTA) TO AWARD A SCHOLARSHIP. (III) THE "EMPOWERING AMERICA" SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM CONSISTING OF TWO $2,500 SCHOLARSHIPS, MADE PAYABLE DIRECTLY TO EACH STUDENTS' EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION IN THE NAME OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY FUND.
