EQUINE OUTREACH ASSISTS THE COMMUNITY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT WITH NEGLECT AND ABUSE INVESTIGATIONS AND REMOVAL OF EQUINES AND OTHER ANIMALS FROM ABUSE AND NEGLECT SITUATIONS. SEVERAL EQUINE OUTREACH VOLUNTEERS ARE CERTIFIED IN THE HENNEKE HORSE BODY SCORING SYSTEM USED TO EVALUATE NEGLECT. VOLUNTEERS ARE ALSO TRAINED IN LARGE ANIMAL TECHNICAL RESCUE TECHNIQUES AND OFFER THOSE SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY. WE ACT PROACTIVELY TO HELP EQUINE OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING SHORT TERM DISTRESS, TO HELP EQUINES STAY IN THEIR HOMES. OUR SERVICES ENCOMPASS USING EQUINE THERAPY TO BENEFIT LOCAL GROUPS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, INCLUDING OREGON NATIONAL GUARD - YOUTH CHALLENGE PROGRAM DESCHUTES COUNTY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES MOUNT BACHELOR MEMORY CARE AND DESCHUTES COUNTY PROBATION.
