CALWILD PROTECTS OUR STATE'S DRINKING WATER AND WILD PLACES BY SEEKING NEW PROTECTIONS FOR STREAMS AND NATURAL AREAS ON PUBLIC LANDS. CURRENT CAMPAIGNS INCLUDE: THE SIERRA FORESTS, NW CA, THE DESERT, THE SAN GABRIEL MTS AND THE CENTRAL COAST OF CALIFORNIA.

OTHER CAMPAIGNS INCLUDE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, CENTRAL COAST, SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS, FOREST PLANNING, BLM, FOREST HEALTH AND PLANNING, AND EEL RIVER PROJECT


DESERT: CALWILD PUT IN SIGNIFICANT RESOURCES AND TIME TO LAUNCH A PROTECT CALIFORNIA DESERTS CAMPAIGN TO CREATE THE CHUCKWALLA NATIONAL MONUMENT AND EXPAND JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK. THIS EFFORT INCLUDED ORGANIZING IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, TALKING CLOSELY WITH IMPORTANT STAKEHOLDERS ABOUT THE ROLE OF PUBLIC LANDS IN THE REGION, AND LIMITING ANY CONFLICTS THROUGH INTENSIVE BACKGROUND RESEARCH AND MAPPING.


NATIONAL MONUMENTS: CALWILD PLAYS A LEADING STRATEGIC ROLE IN ASSISTING A NUMBER OF NATIONAL MONUMENT CAMPAIGNS ACROSS THE STATE. THIS WORK INCLUDES ORGANIZING, ON-THE-GROUND TRUTHING, BACKGROUND RESEARCH, COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT, AND CAMPAIGN STRATEGY. A NUMBER OF THESE CAMPAIGNS HAVE MADE MAJOR PROGRESS OVER THE LAST YEAR AND WE ARE EXCITED FOR THEM TO POTENTIALLY BE DESIGNATED IN 2023/2024.
