THE AIRLINE GROUP OF THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF OPERATIONAL RESEARCH SOCIETIES (AGRIFORS) IS A PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY DEDICATED TO THE ADVANCEMENT AND APPLICATION OF OPERATIONAL RESEARCH WITHIN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY.

FLIGHT OPERATIONS- THESE INCLUDING DISPATCH, FLIGHT PLANNING, FLIGHT WATCH, WEATHER DATA PROVISION, OPERATIONS CONTROL, GROUND TO AIR COMMUNICATIONS AND INTEGRATION WITH CREW, SCHEDULES AND MAINTENANCE PLANNING. GATE ALLOCATION, SLOT CONTROL, ATC AND AIRPORT MANAGEMENT CAN ALSO BE COVERED.
SEVERAL STUDY GROUPS MEET EACH YEAR WHERE RESEARCH PAPERS ARE PRESENTED BY EMPLOYEES OF AGRIFORS MEMBERS AIRLINES RELATED TO PASSENGER AND CARGO DEMAND, FORECASTING TECHNIQUES, AIRCRAFT AND CREW SCHEDULING METHODS, LONG RANGE PLANNING AND GROUND AND AIRPORT OPERATIONS. THE RESEARCH IS GENERAL AND IS AIMED AT FINDING AND DEVELOPING NEW IDEAS RELATED TO THE ABOVE- MENTIONED TOPICS TO IMPROVE THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY, BOTH INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY.
GROUND RESOURCES - THE USE OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE TECHNIQUES IN REDUCING COSTS OR INCREASING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MANPOWER HAS BEEN THE CONCERN OF THIS GROUP. TOPICS ADDRESSED INCLUDE DETERMINATION OF OPERATIONAL MANPOWER, REQUIREMENTS OPTIMAL TASK ALLOCATION, PRODUCTION OF EFFICIENT ROSTER PATTERNS, PLANNING OF EMPLOYMENT, ANNUAL LEAVE, TRAINING, REWARD SYSTEMS AND STRATEGIC PLANNING OF RECRUITMENT. THERE HAVE BEEN SOME CONSIDERABLE INTEREST IN PERSONAL COMPUTER APPLICATIONS WITH DEMONSTRATIONS OF SYSTEMS UNDER DEVELOPMENT.
