Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE VOTER NETWORK (FORMERLY THE MAINSTREAM EDUCATION FOUNDATION) IS A 501(C)(3) NONPARTISAN NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO ENGAGING KANSANS TO BECOME THE BEST INFORMED, HIGHEST VOTING TURNOUT POPULATION IN THE COUNTRY. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS THROUGH A SUITE OF INNOVATIVE TOOLS PROVEN TO INCREASE VOTER TURNOUT, WHICH INCLUDE OUR GROUNDBREAKING VOTER TO VOTER PROJECT AND KSBALLOT.ORG. COMMUNITIES THAT HAVE ROUTINELY BEEN UNDERMINED IN THE POLITICAL PROCESS INCLUDING YOUTH, PEOPLE OF COLOR, LGBTQ+ INDIVIDUALS, AND SINGLE WOMEN, VOTE AT LOWER RATES THAN OTHERS. AS SUCH, THESE VOICES ARE NOT BEING HEARD AND CURRENT POLICIES AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT REFLECT THAT. OUR GOAL IS TO INCREASE NONPARTISAN PARTICIPATION IN THE VOTING PROCESS AS A STRATEGY TO IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES AND BUILD CIVIC LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES IN THESE UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
VOTER TO VOTER IS THE VOTER NETWORK'S SIGNATURE VOTER ENGAGEMENT EFFORT. IT IS AN INNOVATIVE, NONPARTISAN GET-OUT-THE-VOTE PROGRAM THAT ASKS KANSAS VOTERS TO CONNECT WITH TEN PEOPLE THEY ALREADY KNOW AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO GET OUT TO VOTE. WITH AN ONLINE TOOL, COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT, AND A WELCOMING COMMUNITY OF VOTING AMBASSADORS, VOTER TO VOTER IS MAKING A REAL DIFFERENCE IN VOTER TURNOUT. IN 2018, WHEN RECORD TURNOUT REACHED 51% IN KANSAS, VOTER TO VOTER TURNED OUT 82% OF ITS PARTICIPANTS. AMONG INFREQUENT VOTERS, IT WAS 75% COMPARED TO THE STATE'S 33% TURNOUT. IN 2019, IT NEARLY DOUBLED STATE TURNOUT. OVER 20,000 VOTERS WERE CONNECTED TO THE TOOL IN 2020. IN 2021, WE REACHED 30,000 VOTERS THROUGH OVER 500 VOLUNTEER AMBASSADORS.
KSBALLOT.ORG IS A COMPREHENSIVE, STATEWIDE NONPARTISAN BALLOT GUIDE FOR ALL KANSANS. WITH KSBALLOT.ORG, VOTERS CAN SEE WHO AND WHAT IS ON THEIR BALLOT, RESEARCH CANDIDATES, FIND THEIR POLLING PLACE, MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE, AND GET REMINDERS TO CAST THEIR BALLOT, ALL IN ONE EASY PLACE. THIS IS ANOTHER TOOL FOR NONPARTISAN POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT FROM THE VOTER NETWORK.
