YOUTH ATHLETIC PROGRAMS AND AQUATICS PROMOTE AN APPRECIATION OF ONE'S OWN WORTH. THEY FOCUS ON THE FULL AND EQUAL PARTICIPATION OF ALL. EVERY CHILD PLAYS IN EVERY GAME. PARENTS COACH TEAMS AND TURN OUT, OFTEN WITH BROTHERS AND SISTERS, TO WATCH KIDS PLAY. YOUTH ATHLETICS VALUES COOPERATION OVER COMPETITION, FAIR PLAY OVER WINNING AT ANY COST, GOOD FEELINGS AND GOOD HEALTH OVER A GOOD SCORE, AND BUILDING SELF-ESTEEM OVER BEATING THE OPPONENT. THE AQUATICS PROGRAM ALLOWS MEMBERS TO USE THE POOLS AND CERTIFIED INSTRUCTIONS IN KEEPING WITH THE FOCUS OF THE YMCA MISSION. THE YMCA KNOWS THAT WITH THIS APPROACH, EVERYONE WINS IN SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY.
