Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
VOICES OF VALUE IS A MULTI-MEDIA HUB BY PATIENTS FOR PATIENTS TO SHARE KNOWLEDGE AND ADVOCATE FOR THE NEEDS OF THEIR COMMUNITY. PATIENTS SHARE INSIGHTS AND PRESENT THE TRUE CHALLENGES OF LIVING WITH CHRONIC AND LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESSES.
PATIENT ACCESS AND AFFORDABILITY PROJECT: WE EVALUATE THE VARIOUS FRAMEWORKS THAT ASSESS AND DEMONSTRATE THE VALUE OF INNOVATIVE TREATMENTS. THESE TREATMENTS HELP PATIENTS WHO ARE LIVING WITH RARE AND CHRONIC DISEASES. AS THE MARKET BECOMES MORE INNOVATIVE, WE FOCUS ON WAYS TO PROMOTE ACCESS AND MAINTAIN AFFORDABILITY. WE LOOK BEYOND THE ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL APPROACH, WHICH CAN DISCRIMINATE AGAINST PATIENTS. WE PROVIDE PATIENT-POWERED PATHWAYS TO HELP BOTH THE PAYERS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AS THEY MAKE CRITICAL PAYMENT DECISIONS FOR THESE PAYMENTS.
PATIENTS RISING UNIVERSITY (PRU) IS A FREE ONLINE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM DEVELOPED TO HELP PATIENTS AND CAREGIVERS BUILD SELF-ADVOCACY SKILLS, LEARN ABOUT THEIR CONDITIONS, NAVIGATE HEALTHCARE COVERAGE, AND ULTIMATELY GET ACCESS TO THE BEST CARE AND TREATMENT POSSIBLE.
IN ADDITION TO OUR CORE PROGRAMMING, WE HANDLE ONE ON ONE NAVIGATION SUPPORT SERVICES FOR PATIENTS THROUGH OUR ASK ACCESS HOTLINE. WE DIRECTLY HELP PATIENTS WHO CALL AND EMAIL WITH DIRECT SUPPORT FROM ONE OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS. THIS CAN HELP THEM WITH ANYTHING FROM HOW TO FIND RESOURCES FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO HOW TO WRITE A LETTER TO THEIR INSURER IF THEY HAVE BEEN DENIED COVERAGE FOR A NEEDED TREATMENT.
