AIRR IS COMMITTED TO EMPOWER AND UPLIFT THE VOICES OF THE IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY AND PROVIDING THEM WITH THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO BETTER PROTECT THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES.

ADVOCATES FOR IMMIGRANT RIGHTS AND RECONCILIATION (AIRR) RECOGNIZES AND WORKS TO KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER AND END THE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS OUR IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY IS FACING. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL PEOPLE, NO MATTER WHERE THEY WERE BORN, DESERVE A CHANCE AT A SAFE AND DIGNIFIED LIFE. AIRR IS COMMITTED TO EMPOWER AND UPLIFT THE VOICES OF THE IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY AND PROVIDE THEM WITH THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO BETTER PROTECT THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES. IN 2022, AIRR REACHED 1,151 PEOPLE THROUGH THE KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAINING. THESE TRAININGS PROVIDE INFORMATION REGARDING PEOPLE'S RIGHTS UNDER THE U.S. CONSTITUTION. ADDITIONALLY, THE IMMIGRATION 101 TRAININGS PROVIDE EDUCATION FOR ALLIES, SERVICE PROVIDERS AND CONGREGATIONS REGARDING IMMIGRATION. OUR GOAL IS TO HUMANIZE IMMIGRATION AND EDUCATE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY ABOUT THE IMMIGRATION PROCESS, WHAT IS GOING ON AT HOME, AND HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED. AIRR WILL WORK WITH THE GROUP TO TAILOR THE PRESENTATION TO FIT THEIR AREAS OF INTEREST IN A VERY BROAD TOPIC SUCH AS IMMIGRATION. OUR ORGANIZATION WAS ONE OF THE MAIN PARTNERS IN THE SAFE AND WELCOMING COALITION AND WE SUCCESSFULLY PASSED AN ORDINANCE IN KANSAS CITY, KS THAT PROVIDES A MUNICIPAL ID FOR EVERYONE LIVING IN KANSAS CITY, KS. FROM OCTOBER THROUGH NOVEMBER 8TH, AIRR JOINED FORCES WITH 11 OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE STATE FOR THE GET OUT THE VOTE OUTREACH CAMPAIGN. A TOTAL OF 3,467 PEOPLE WERE REACHED DURING THE TWO WEEKS OF THE CAMPAIGN. VOTING IS ESSENTIAL TO CONTINUE OUR FIGHT, AS WE ADVOCATE AND DEMAND OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS TO SUPPORT AND PASS A VERY MUCH NEEDED IMMIGRATION REFORM. ON DECEMBER 3 AND DECEMBER 13, AIRR JOINED TWO COALITIONS OF ORGANIZERS, VOLUNTEERS, AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS TO WELCOME TWO BUSES OF FAMILIES WHO WERE RELEASED FROM ICE DETENTION IN EL PASO. WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE ASYLUM CLINIC KC, AIRR PROVIDED KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAINING TO FAMILIES TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF APPLYING FOR ASYLUM AND THEIR RIGHTS UNDER THE TERMS OF THEIR RELEASE AND DURING THEIR PROCESS.
