LEAD AND LOVE DOG RESCUE CONTINUED ITS MISSION IN 2021 AS BEST AS POSSIBLE. IT WAS A TOUGH YEAR. DONATIONS ARE DOWN FOR MULTIPLE REASONS, COVID BEING THE MOST PROMINENT ONE. WE CONTINUED AT A SLOWER PACE THAN NORMAL THIS PAST SEASON AS THE MONTHS AHEAD WERE GOING TO BE DIFFICULT TO PREDICT. COVID-19 HIT US ALL HARD IN 2021 AS IT DID IN 2020. THE BOARD AGAIN MADE THE DECISION TO SLOW INTAKE DOWN TO A MINIMUM AND FOCUS ON HELPING OTHER SHELTERS AND RESCUES THAT WERE STRUGGLING WITH HIGHER INTAKES THEN NORMAL. WE CONTINUED TO HELP LOW-INCOME FAMILIES WHO HAD LOST THEIR JOBS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC WITH VETERINARY CARE FOR THEIR ANIMALS SO THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE TO SURRENDER THEM TO LOCAL SHELTERS.WE LATER REALIZED THAT OUR ORGANIZATION WAS NOT GOING TO SURVIVE AND DECIDED TO PERMANENTLY CLOSE. WE DONATED ALL OF OUR ASSETS TO THREE LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS; BRIGHTSIDE ANIMAL CENTER, WITH WHOM WE HAD WORKED CLOSELY WITH THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. THREE RIVERS HUMANE SOCIETY, WHOSE RURAL LOCATION AND OVERWHELMING PET POPULATION MADE IT ONE OF THE MOST DESERVING SHELTERS IN OUR AREA, AND TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE OCHOCOS ANOTHER VERY RURAL SHELTER IN DESPERATE NEED OF AN UPGRADED BUILDING. 2021 STATISTICS:10 DOGS RESCUED AND REHOMED15 DOGS AND FAMILIES HELPED WITH VETERINARY EXPENSES3 ANIMAL SHELTERS SERVED
