HAITI: KONBIT SHELTER AND KLUB OBSEVTWA - HELIOTROPE FOUNDATION IS WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY OF KOMYE HAITI SINCE THE 2010 EARTHQUAKE. THE KONBIT SHELTER IS A COLLABORATION WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IN SUSTAINABLE BUILDING PROJECTS THAT UTILIZE LOCAL NATURAL BUILDING MATERIALS AND PROVIDE ON-THE-JOB TRAINING AND MEANINGFUL EMPLOYMENT. THE HELIOTROPE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS AND MANAGES A WEEKLY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR YOUTH CALLED KLUB OBZEVATWA THAT PROVIDES ART WELLNESS AND ACADEMIC STUDIES. INCOME IS USED AS NEEDED FOR THIS PROJECT.
ZA'KIYAH HOUSE: THE SANCTUARY - HELIOTROPE WORKS WITH A PARTNER ORGANIZATION ZA'KIYAH HOUSE THAT PROVIDES HOUSING AND OUTREACH SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE WORKING TO REBUILD THEIR LIVES AFTER TRANSITIONING OUT OF PRISON OR THOSE AFFECTED BY HOMELESSNESS OR ADDICTION. HELIOTROPE HAS BEEN RENOVATING A CHURCH IN BRADDOCK PA TO BECOME THE SANCTUARY WHICH WILL THEN BECOME APARTMENTS FOR HARD TO HOUSE RESIDENTS A COMMUNITY CENTER AND SPACE FOR OUTREACH PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL EVENTS.
