THE PUGET SOUND JOINT PURCHASING ASSOCIATION (PSJPC) HAS MORE THAN 125 MEMBER PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON. WE PROVIDE A FOOD SERVICE DISTRIBUTION BID FOR MEMBER DISTRICTS, THAT AIDS ALL DISTRICT BY VOLUME PURCHASED. IN A SCHOOL YEAR OUR MEMBERS PURCHASED OVER $40 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF FOOD AND SUPPLIES THROUGH THIS CONTRACT. ADDITIONALLY, PSJPC PROVIDES USDA COMMODITY BIDS FOR USE BY MEMBER DISTRICTS. THESE BIDS ALLOW MEMBER DISTRICTS TO SEND USDA COMMODITIES TO MANUFACTURER AND HAVE THEM CONVERTED INTO PROCESSED FOOD PRODUCT. AN EXAMPLE WOULD BE SENDING USDA RAW CHICKEN TO A MANUFACTURER AND GETTING CHICKEN NUGGETS IN RETURN. MEMBERS ARE SURVEYED ON WHERE THEY WANT TO SEND COMMODITY PRODUCTS BASED ON EXISTING BIDS. OUR INFORMATION IS THEN GIVEN TO THE STATE DONATED FOODS OFFICE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON AND THEY COORDINATE THE COMMODITIES WITH THE USDA.
