Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

THE MISSION OF HEAL IS TO EMPOWER INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS WITH A SAFE, PROFESSIONAL, AND THERAPEUTIC EQUINE EXPERIENCE. HEAL SUPPORTS THE LIMITLESS EMOTIONAL GROWTH AND HEALING POTENTIAL CREATED BY THE BOND BETWEEN HORSE AND HUMAN. HEAL WAS BUILT TO PROVIDE EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES (EAP) AND EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING (EAL) DIRECTLY TO OUR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

IN 2021 LISA D'ALESSIO REMAINED IN THE POSITION OF EXECUTIVE AND CLINICAL DIRECTOR OF THE HEAL FOUNDATION. THE BOD VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO JOIN THE PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN ORDER TO FURTHER DEVELOP COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS AND TO ACCESS THE MEMBERS ONLY LOCAL VETERANS ADVISORY COUNCIL. DESPITE THE PANDEMIC WE CONTINUED TO HOST SOCIALLY DISTANCED EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING EVENTS WITH SMALL GROUPS OF VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS AS WELL AS MEMBERS OF THE CHAMBER. THIS INCREASED OUR ACCESS TO THE VETERAN AND FIRST RESPONDER COMMUNITY, POTENTIAL DONORS AND RAISED OUR PROFILE AND PRESENCE WITHIN THE LOCAL BUSINESS REGION.

WE CONTINUED OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HOG'S AND HEROES VA-03 WHO HELPED TO FUNDRAISE FOR OUR ORGANIZATION, HOST AND ATTEND HEAL EVENTS FURTHERING OUR REACH INTO THE VETERAN AND FIRST RESPONDER COMMUNITY. WE ALSO CONTINUED TO WORK WITH HERO'S BRIDGE, A GROUP FOR AGING HOMELESS AND INDIGENT VETERANS, HOSTING GROUP THERAPY FOR THEIR PARTICIPANTS. WE FURTHER DEVELOPED OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HORSE AND SOUL COUNSELING, ATTENDING INFORMATIONAL GATHERINGS FOR VETERANS TO PROMOTE THE AVAILABILITY OF OUR SERVICES.

WE MAINTAINED OUR GUIDESTAR PLATINUM STATUS IN 2021 AND CONTINUED OUR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS ONLINE DURING THE PANDEMIC, ONCE AGAIN HOSTING A VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE ON ZOOM DUE TO COVID SAFETY CONCERNS, CONTINUING TO MAINTAIN OUR FUNDRAISING BENCHMARKS. WE DOUBLED THE NUMBER OF CLIENTS SERVED IN 2021, PROVIDING INDIVIDUAL, GROUP AND FAMILY EQUINE FACILITATED PSYCHOTHERAPY TO VETERANS, FIRST RESPONDERS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AND WERE ABLE TO MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCE DUE TO THE NATURE OF OUR OUTDOOR WORK WITH HORSES.
