SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH/GRANTS: THE FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO THE GOAL OF IMPROVING THE QUALITY AND DELIVERY OF PATIENT CARE. THE FOUNDATION ACCOMPLISHES THIS BY PROVIDING GRANT SUPPORT TO EMERGING INVESTIGATORS TO PROMOTE SCIENTIFICALLY BASED AND CLINICALLY RELEVANT RESEARCH RELATED TO THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY PRACTICE. THE FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO SUPPORT RESEARCHERS AROUND THE COUNTRY WHO ARE NOW DEVELOPING NEW TREATMENTS AND APPROACHES IN MANY ARENAS, SUCH AS: ORTHOPEDICS, GERIATRICS, PEDIATRICS, NEUROLOGY, CHRONIC CONDITIONS, AND CARDIOLOGY. THE FOUNDATION HAS DEVELOPED AND FUNDED A CENTER OF EXCELLENCE, COHSTARFOR HEALTH SERVICES/HEALTH POLICY RESEARCH AND TRAINING, DIRECTING $250,000 IN SUPPORT OF THE GRANT DURING 2021.
EDUCATIONAL: IN 2021, THE FOUNDATION AWARDED $226,373 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS TO SUPPORT PHYSICAL THERAPISTS OR PHYSICAL THERAPISTS ASSISTANTS IN THEIR FIRST YEAR OF A POST-PROFESSIONAL DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAM (PODS I) AND POST-CANDIDACY PHASE OF POST-PROFESSIONAL DOCTORAL STUDIES (PODS II).
AWARENESS: THE FOUNDATION STRIVES TO RAISE AWARENESS OF FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES ON A WIDE RANGE OF PHYSICAL THERAPY RESEARCH AREAS AND ITS VITAL ROLE FOR PRACTICING PHYSICAL THERAPISTS WHICH RESULTS IN ADVANCING HEALTHCARE AND OPTIMIZING MOVEMENT OF PATIENTS AND INDIVIDUALS ACROSS ALL AGE AND DISEASE SPECTRUMS.
