THE ALBISTON FOUNDATION OF MAINE IS MADE UP OF THE APHASIA CENTER OF MAINE AND THE ADAPTIVE OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER, WHICH OPENED IN DECEMBER 2015. TOGETHER, THE CENTERS SERVED APPROXIMATELY 700 PEOPLE DURING 2021 THROUGH RETREATS, ACTIVITIES, AND PROGRAMS. ADDITIONALLY, THE ORGANIZATION OFFERED SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS AND PARTICIPATED IN HEALTH FAIRS THAT REACHED COUNTLESS ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANTS.THE APHASIA CENTER OF MAINE ENHANCES THE LIVES OF PERSONS WITH APHASIA AND HELPS THEM GROW. THE CENTER PROVIDES RECREATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT TO THOSE AFFECTED BY APHASIA AND THEIR FAMILIES. IN ADDITION, THE CENTER IS A RESOURCE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND MEDICAL COMMUNITY TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF ALL THINGS APHASIA. THE ADAPTIVE OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER IS A FULLY ACCESSIBLE FACILITY PROVIDING LOW-COST, HOSTEL STYLE ACCOMMODATIONS IN CARRABASSETT VALLEY, MAINE. THE CENTER'S PURPOSE IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES THROUGH ADAPTIVE OUTDOOR RECREATION AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES WHILE ALSO BEING A RESOURCE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
