WESTERN MAINE COMMUNITY ACTION, INC.'S MISSION IS TO ACT AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF, AND TO ADVOCATE WITH AND FOR PEOPLE, ON ISSUES THAT AFFECT THEM; TO PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICES TO MEET IDENTIFIED HUMAN NEEDS IN THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE WAY POSSIBLE; TO PROMOTE SENSITIVITY AND TO FOSTER COOPERATION WITHIN PROGRAMS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND COMMUNITIES IN MEETING THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE; AND TO MOBILIZE AND WORK WITH ALL RESOURCES IN DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO COMMUNITY PROBLEMS.

NUTRITION/FAMILY AND HEALTH SERVICES: INCLUDES WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN WIC AND CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM CACFP. WIC SERVICES ARE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT FRANKLIN, OXFORD AND ANDROSCOGGIN COUNTIES. IN ADDITION TO MONTHLY FOOD VOUCHERS/DEBIT CARDS, NUTRITION COUNSELING IS PROVIDED TO PREGNANT, POST-PARTUM AND BREASTFEEDING MOTHERS, BABIES AND CHILDREN. HEALTH AND NUTRITION INFORMATION IS PROVIDED AS WELL AS REFERRAL TO HEALTH AND OTHER SOCIAL SERVICES PROGRAMS. CACFP IS PROVIDED THROUGHOUT FRANKLIN COUNTY AS WELL AS TO WESTERN SOMERSET AND NORTHERN ANDROSCOGGIN COUNTIES. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING FOR FOOD IS PROVIDED TO CHILDCARE PROVIDERS WITH ELIGIBLE CHILDREN IN THEIR CARE. NUTRITIONISTS ALSO VISIT PROVIDERS MONTHLY TO REVIEW MEAL PLANS AND PROVIDE NUTRITIONAL GUIDANCE. COORDINATES THE ACA NAVIGATOR PROGRAM FOR THE STATE OF MAINE, CONTRACTING WITH OTHER CAA'S AND NON PROFIT PARTNERS TO EDUCATE AND ASSIST WITH ENROLLMENT IN HEALTH PLANS PROVIDED THROUGH THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT PROGRAM. WHOLE FAMILIES AND HOMELESS TCM PROGRAMS PROVIDE EMERGENCY HOUSING AND TARGETED CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN FRANKLIN AND NORTHERN ANDROSCOGGIN COUNTIES.


COMMUNITY SERVICES/HOUSING AND ENERGY: PROVIDES FUEL ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE LIHEAP PROGRAM. ELIGIBLE LIHEAP FAMILIES ARE ALSO ELIGIBLE FOR HOME WEATHERIZATION, AND FURNACE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT TO REDUCE FUEL COSTS AND MAKE THEIR HOME MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT. ADDITIONAL SERVICES INCLUDE HOME IMPROVEMENT AND REPAIR LOANS. COMMUNITY SERVICES PROVIDES FOOD FOR SENIORS AND INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS SEEKING SOCIAL SERVICES IN FRANKLIN COUNTY AS WELL AS EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FOR FOOD AND HOUSING.


OTHER PROGRAMS - PROVIDE HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM SERVICES THAT ALLOW SENIORS TO STAY IN THEIR HOMES.
