THE MISSION OF THE RICHLAND COUNTY LAND BANK IS TO MAKE A POSITIVE SUSTAINABLE IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY BY STRATEGICALLY ACQUIRING VACANT AND ABANDONED PROPERTIES, REDUCING BLIGHT, INCREASE PROPERTY VALUES, AND RETURNING THEM TO PRODUCTIVE USE IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR COUNTY RESIDENTS.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE ORGANIZATION ACQUIRES BLIGHTED PROPERTIES THROUGH CONTRIBUTIONS AND FORECLOSURE PROCEEDINGS. BUILDINGS ARE EVALUATED FOR ASBESTOS AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS. BUILDINGS NOT ABLE TO BE REHABILITATED ARE DEMOLISHED. EMPTY LOTS ARE THEN OFFERED FIRST TO ADJOINING LAND OWNERS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE THE LOTS. LOTS ARE SOLD FOR A SMALL FEE PLUS RECORDING COSTS.
