CREATED JOB OPPORTUNITIES AND JOB TRAINING BY USING THE SPARTA RESTAURANT AS A JOB CREATION AND JOB TRAINING PROVING GROUND THAT BUILT CAPACITY AND ENCOURAGED NEW SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS. BEGINNING IN JULY 2015 PROJECT MAIN STREET TRANSITIONED FROM A SUPPORT ROLE AT THE SPARTA RESTAURANT TO AN OWNERSHIP ROLE. PROJECT MAIN STREET OWNED AND OPERATED THE COFFEESHOP/RESTAURANT THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2016 WHEN IT WAS DETERIMINED NOT FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE. THE SPARTA RESTAURANT OFFERED EMPLOYMENT TO INDIVIDUALS RETURNING TO PUBLIC LIFE AFTER INCARCERATION. IT ALSO OFFERED A VENUE FOR MEETINGS AND SUPPPORT GROUPS ASSISTING WITH TRANSITION AND OTHER LOCAL OUTREACH.
