WHEN THE RYPIEN FOUNDATION DISSOLVED, COMMUNITY CANCER FUND STEPPED IN TO PROVIDE FUNDING TO SUPPORT CHILDREN ACADEMICALLY WHILE THEY BATTLE CANCER. THE PROGRAM IS FUNDED 100% THROUGH PHILANTHROPIC SUPPORT. THE HOSPITAL-BASED SCHOOL PROGRAM IS A PROGRAM DESIGNED TO HELP CHILDREN NAVIGATE SCHOOLING WHILE RECEIVING BOTH INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT SERVICES. THE MISSION IS TO HELP THE STUDENT MAINTAIN CONNECTION TO THEIR HOME DISTRICT, WHILE ENSURING THEY RECEIVE EXCELLENT EDUCATIONAL SERVICES HERE AT THE HOSPITAL.
RESTRICTED DONATION TO RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST. THE SPOKANE CAMPUS IS LOCATED JUST MINUTES FROM SACRED HEART CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, MULTICARE, SHRINERS, ST.LUKES, AND OTHER TREATMENT FACILITIES. WHEN FAMILIES ARE CLOSE TO THE HOSPITAL, THEY ARE ABLE TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH THEIR CHILD AND HAVE FREQUENT INTERACTIONS WITH THEIR CLINICAL CARE TEAM WHICH HELPS THEM BETTER PARTICIPATE IN THE CARE DECISIONS. ADDITIONALLY, FAMILIES STAYING AT RMHC HAVE FREE LAUNDRY FACILITIES, SHUTTLE RIDES TO AND FROM THE HOSPITAL, FREQUENT MEALS PREPARED BY VOLUNTEERS THROUGH THE MAKE-A-MEAL PROGRAM AND MUCH MORE.
ONE OF THE FIRST INITIATIVES OF CCF WAS TO ESTABLISH A $3 MILLION ENDOWMENT FUND FOR CAMP GOODTIMES AT YMCA CAMP REED, A FREE SUMMER CAMP FOR CHILDREN AFFECTED BY CANCER. CAMP GOODTIMES IS MEDICALLY SUPPORTED BY PEDIATRIC AND ONCOLOGY PHYSICIANS AND NURSES AND IS OFFERED FREE OF CHARGE FOR CHILDREN AFFECTED BY CANCER. AMAZING CAMP HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE COLLEGE TEAM VISITS, TIE-DYE EXTRAVAGANZA, BASS FISHING DAY, AND A HOST OF TYPICAL CAMP ACTIVITIES.
PROGRAMS INCLUDED: DAVENPORT LODGING PROGRAM -COMPLIMENTARY LODGING USED BY PATIENTS OF CANCER CARE NORTHWEST, SACRED HEART CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, AND MULTICARE HEALTH SYSTEM DURING TREATMENTS. LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA CANCER SURVIVOR WELLNESS CLASS -VIRTUAL PROGRAM DUE TO COVID. HELPED PURCHASE HOME EXERCISE EQUIPMENT KITS TO RECEIVE HOME INSTRUCTION. THESE KITS NOT ONLY ALLOWED THEM TO FINISH THEIR PROGRAM BUT GIVE THEM OPTIONS TO CONTINUE WORKING ON THEIR WELLNESS EVEN IF THEIR TREATMENT/SURVIVORSHIP STATUS NECESSITATES THAT THEY STAY OUT OF GYM SETTINGS AT THIS TIME.ACCOIN: AMERICAN CHILDHOOD CANCER ORGANIZATION INLAND NORTHWEST'S UNIQUE MISSION IS TO HELP EACH FAMILY COPE WITH LIFE DURING CHILDHOOD CANCER TREATMENTS AND REBUILD THEIR LIVES AFTER CANCER FROM THE EXPERIENCED PERSPECTIVE OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE. HELP PROVIDE EMOTIONAL AND PRACTICAL SUPPORT, EDUCATION, PATIENT ADVOCACY, AND THE ASSURANCE THAT NO CHILD OR FAMILY WILL HAVE TO FIGHT CANCER ALONE.
