AFTER SCHOOL MATTERS (ASM) PROGRAM: PARTNERING WITH ASM, ICG OFFERS AFTER-SCHOOL ARTS-AND STEM-BASED INTERACTIVE PROGRAMMING TO 14-18 - YEAR-OLD CHICAGO YOUTH THROUGH UNIQUE GLASS MAKING ACTIVITIES. STUDENTS ARE INTRODUCED TO THE ALCHEMY OF GLASS THROUGH THE LENS OF BLOWN, FUSED, SCULPTED, FLAMEWORKED AND MOSAIC GLASS ART, BRINGING STEAM LEARNING TO LIFE. STUDENTS ALSO DEVELOP A WIDE RANGE OF SEL SKILLS THROUGH THE COLLABORATIVE GLASS MAKING PROCESS WITH PROBLEM SOLVING, TEAMWORK, TRUST, VULNERABILITY, RESILIENCE, AND DISCIPLINE CRITICAL TO BOTH SAFETY AND SUCCESS. IN SUMMER AND FALL 2021 AND WINTER/SPRING 2022, ICG CONDUCTED THREE, 8-WEEK LONG SESSIONS ENGAGING A TOTAL OF 48 ASM STUDENTS,16 STUDENTS PER SESSION.
JUNGMAN STEM ELEMENTARY 8 TH GRADE PROGRAM: PARTNERING WITH JUNGMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, ICG FACILITATED A DEEP DIVE INTO STEM ELEMENTS OF GLASS, FOCUSED ON THE ORIGINS OF GLASS, AND GLASS AS A MATERIAL AND AS ENERGY THROUGH ENGAGING VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING USING VIDEO LEARNING MODULES ACCOMPANIED BY ACTIVITY WORKBOOKS. IN THE SPRING OF 2021, 66 JUNGMAN 8 TH GRADE STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THIS PROGRAM.
IGNITION COMMUNITY GLASS (ICG) SIGNATURE PROGRAM OPENS A PATHWAY FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED ICG ENTRY-LEVEL PROGRAMMING TO TAKE A DEEPER DIVE INTO THE ART, SCIENCE, AND COLLABORATION OF GLASS MAKING. OFFERING CHICAGO YOUNG ADULTS 16-23, A SAFE, DYNAMIC SPACE TO DEVELOP THEIR ART SKILLS AND FOSTER STEM AND SEL LEARNING, THE PROGRAM AIMS TO PREPARE PARTICIPANTS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES AND/OR THE JOB MARKET. FROM JULY 2021 - JUNE 2022, 6 YOUNG ADULTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM.
