TO ENGAGE COLLABORATIVE PARTNERS IN THE CITY OF LONG BEACH AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES IN THE PLANNING, IMPLEMENTATION, AND EVALUATION OF STRATEGIES TO PREVENT UNDERAGE ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND OTHER SUBSTANCE ABUSE. THE COALITION WILL UTILIZE EVIDENCE BASED STRATEGIES, SUCH AS POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND ENHANCED ENFORCEMENT TO REDUCE THE RATE OF YOUTH SUBSTANCE ABUSE, AS WELL AS OTHER RELATED ISSUES THAT NEGATIVELY IMPACT THE CHANCES FOR YOUTH TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE, HEALTHY AND SUBSTANCE-FREE ADULTS.

THE ORGANIZATION HAS SUCCEEDED IN INCREASING THE NUMBER OF COMPLIANCE CHECKS AND MONITORING ESTABLISHMENTS SUSPECTED OF SELLING ALCOHOL TO MINORS. THERE HAS BEEN AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF ADULTS REPORTING UNDERAGE DRINKING PARTIES. THE COALITION IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON DESIGNING MEDIA ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS TO CREATE PUBLIC AWARENESS AND ENHANCE STRATEGIC EFFORTS.
