JAMES BUILDING: AN ONGOING EFFORT TO PREVENT FURTHER DETERIORATION OF A HISTORIC COMMUNITY GATHERING PLACE IN A KEY DOWNTOWN MAIN AVENUE LOCATION. PLANS ARE IN THE WORKS TO TRANSFORM THE BUILDING INTO AN ARTS AND NATURAL SCIENCE DISCOVERY CENTER. 2023 BROUGHT SUPPORT FROM THE PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY IN MOVING FORWARD WITH STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND ENGINEERING DESIGN. BUILDING PERMITS HAVE BEEN APPLIED OF AND APPROVED ALLOWING NECESSARY STRUCTURAL UPGRADES ADDRESSING GRAVITY, SEISMIC, AND WIND LOADING CONSIDERATIONS. ONGOING DRAINAGE CHALLENGES HAVE BEEN ANALYZED WITH NEW DRAINAGE PLANS CURRENTLY IN THE WORKS WITH IMPLEMENTATION TO OCCUR IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2024. FUNDS HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED FOR BOTH THE STRUCTURAL UPGRADES AND DRAINAGE REMEDIATION. THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE ARCHITECTURAL DOCUMENTS IN PREPARATION FOR PERMIT APPLICATIONS SUBMITTALS. VOLUNTEER HOURS (PROFESSIONAL 30 AND SUPPORT 3) HAVE BEEN SPENT CREATING AND REFINING THE PERMIT DOCUMENTS, DEVELOPING PROJECT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY, OUTREACH TO THE TRADES AND MATERIALS SUPPLIERS, AND COORDINATION WITH THE LOCAL JURISDICTION. IT FOSTERS INNOVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND COMMUNITY VALUES. THIS COMBINATION CREATES A HOLISTIC, SUSTAINABLE AND DIVERSE ECONOMY, SO THAT COMMUNITIES AND THEIR FUTURE GENERATIONS CAN THRIVE.
EDUCATION FUNDING. FUND TEACHER CLASSROOM GRANTS, AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, OUTDOOR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, ART EDUCATION AND OTHER SIMILAR ACTIVITIES THAT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY SUPPORT KNOWLEDGE AND APPRECIATION OF THE AREA, AND/OR WILL TIE THE COMMUNITIES OF THE LOWER GRAND COULEE TOGETHER. AREAS OF EDUCATION THAT MAY BE SUPPORTED INCLUDE SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, MATH, LITERACY, AND SOCIAL STUDIES. GRAND COULEE BY ROAD: EXPLANATIONS OF LANDMARKS BETWEEN SOAP LAKE AND THE GRAND COULEE DAM. THIS WOULD INCLUDE BOTH WELL KNOWN AND FORGOTTEN HISTORICAL LANDMARKS, WITH LITTLE KNOWN HISTORICAL FACTS WHEN AVAILABLE. THE PURPOSE WOULD BE TO ENTERTAIN AND EDUCATE BOTH LOCALS AND TRAVELERS WHILE PRESERVING HISTORY AND RETURNING RELEVANCE TO BOTH THE LOWER AND UPPER GRAND COULEE.
ARTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES FUND.
