ESTABLISHES URBAN FARM PLOTS TO GROW LOCAL AND ORGANIC FOOD FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS RESTAURANTS. THE URBAN FARM PLOTS ARE SETUP BY PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS. THE URBAN FARMS ARE ALSO GROUNDS FOR TRAINING, EDUCATION AND FOOD DISTRIBUTION.
PROVIDES A JOB TRAINING PROGRAM TO PREVIOUSLY INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS AND AT-RISK YOUTH. THE TRAINING PROGRAM INCLUDES INTRODUCTORY LESSONS IN URBAN AGRICULTURE, LANDSCAPING, PLUMBING AND CARPENTRY. PARTICIPANTS ARE TRAINED TO GROW AND DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES.
CONNECTS LOCAL FARMERS TO FOOD RECOVERY AND RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS, IN ORDER TO GIVE PEOPLE IN NEED ACCESS TO PRODUCE THAT WOULD OTHERWISE GO TO WASTE. FARM2PEOPLE WORKS TO REPAIR THE BROKEN LINKS IN OUR FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN AND RECONNECT SUPPLY TO DEMAND, ADDRESSING THE URGENTISSUES OF FOOD INSECURITY AND FOOD WASTE.
CONNECTS CHILDREN AND YOUTH AGES 3-18 TO THEIR LAND AND FOOD THROUGH THE YOUTH PROGRAM. CHILDREN LEARN TO MAKE HEALTHIER CHOICES THROUGH HANDS-ON WEEKLY EDUCATION IN GARDENING AND CULINARY ARTS.
