THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF CAMP ABILITIES SARATOGA IS TO EMPOWER CHILDREN AND TEENS THAT ARE BLIND, VISUALLY IMPAIRED OR DEAF BLIND TO BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE BY WAY OF A SERIES OF SPORTS ACTIVITIES THAT HAVE BEEN PROFESSIONALLY ADAPTED TO THEIR ABILITIES. THE SECOND OBJECTIVE OF THE CAMP IS TO PROVIDE "REAL LIFE" HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS PURSUING THE FIELD OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, AS WELL AS ACTIVE TEACHING PROFESSIONALS FROM THE FIELD OF ADAPTIVE SPORTS. THIS IMPROVES THEIR KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND CONFIDENCE IN DEVELOPING AND TEACHING SPORTS, RECREATIONAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN WITH SENSORY IMPAIRMENTS. THE THIRD OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO DEMONSTRATE TO PARENTS AND FAMILIES OF CAMPERS THE CHILD'S POTENTIAL ABILITY TO FUNCTION INDEPENDENTLY WHILE ALSO PROVIDING THEIR CHILD WITH AN INCLUSIONARY SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER CHILDREN.
