COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - PROMOTES COMMUNITY SERVICE AND ADVOCACY WITHIN THE 77 NEIGHBORHOODS IN CHICAGO WITH A GRASSROOTS APPROACH. SOME OF THE INITIATIVES INCLUDE: TRAINING AND SPONSORING 25 BLOCK CLUBS INCLUDING NEW SIGNAGE; SENIOR SNOW SHOVELING WITH VOLUNTEERS; BE A PART OF THE LIGHT - PROVIDING HOLIDAY DECORATIONS.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT EXPLORERS PROGRAM TAKES TEENAGERS FROM SCHOOLS IN LOW SOCIAL ECONOMIC STATUS NEIGHBORHOODS ON EDUCATIONAL EXPLORATIONS. THEY RECEIVE A FIRSTHAND GLIMPSE INTO DIFFERENT CULTURES AND CAREERS, PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES.
