ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: JA'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAMS (GRADES KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FIFTH,) ARE THE FOUNDATION OF ITS K-12 CURRICULA. SIX SEQUENTIAL THEMES, EACH WITH FIVE HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, AS WELL AS AN AFTER-SCHOOL AND CAPSTONE EXPERIENCE, WORK TO CHANGE STUDENTS' LIVES BY HELPING THEM UNDERSTAND BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS. JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF EASTERN IOWA SERVED APPROXIMATELY 22,400 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN 994 CLASSES AT A TOTAL COST OF $1,015,941. OF THESE EXPENSES, $269,218 IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FORM 990 AS IT IS THE VALUE OF THE 3,055 HOURS PROVIDED BY OUR BUSINESS VOLUNTEERS. IF IT WERE NOT FOR OUR DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF EASTERN IOWA WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR THESE SERVICES.


MIDDLE SCHOOL: THE MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS, GRADES SIXTH THROUGH EIGHTH, BUILD ON CONCEPTS THE STUDENTS LEARNED IN JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAM AND HELP TEENS MAKE DIFFICULT DECISIONS ABOUT HOW TO BEST PREPARE FOR THEIR EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL FUTURE. THE PROGRAMS SUPPLEMENT STANDARD SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULA AND DEVELOP COMMUNICATION SKILLS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO SUCCESS IN THE BUSINESS WORLD. JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF EASTERN IOWA SERVED APPROXIMATELY 11,200 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS IN 374 CLASSES AT A TOTAL COST OF $520,731. OF THESE EXPENSES, $149,478 IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FORM 990 AS IT IS THE VALUE OF THE 2,907 HOURS PROVIDED BY OUR BUSINESS VOLUNTEERS. IF IT WERE NOT FOR OUR DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF EASTERN IOWA WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR THESE SERVICES.


HIGH SCHOOL: AS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, GRADES NINTH THROUGH TWELFTH, BEGIN TO POSITION THEMSELVES FOR THEIR FUTURE, THERE ARE MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT LIES AHEAD. JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT'S HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS HELP STUDENTS MAKE INFORMED, INTELLIGENT DECISIONS ABOUT THEIR FUTURE, AND FOSTER SKILLS THAT WILL BE HIGHLY USEFUL IN THE BUSINESS WORLD. JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF EASTERN IOWA SERVED APPROXIMATELY 2,600 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN 91 CLASSES AT A TOTAL COST OF $209,001. OF THESE EXPENSES, $120,526 IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FORM 990 AS IT IS THE VALUE OF THE 3,758 HOURS PROVIDED BY OUR BUSINESS VOLUNTEERS.
