TO DEVELOP AND FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF HOUSING PROPERTIES AND LESSEN THE BURDENS OF GOVERNMENT. THE DEVELOPMENTS INCLUDE PARKWAY OVERLOOK DWELLING, SQUARE 882N OWNER, LLC, AND SQUARE 882N AFFORDABLE GP. THE PARKWAY OVERLOOK APARTMENTS WAS AN ABANDONED 266 APARTMENT COMPLEX WHICH WAS CLOSED BY THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND HUD IN 2008 DUE TO CRUMBLING CONDITIONS. AS THIS DEVELOPMENT IS IN PRE-DEVELOPMENT STAGES, THE FINAL PRODUCT WILL BE A REHABILITATED PROPERTY WITH 220 UNITS OF WHICH 59 WILL BE AFFORDABLE WITH THREE BEDROOM UNITS. SQUARE 882N OWNER AND AFFORDABLE IS A 23-ACRE TRACT STRETCHING FROM THE NAVY YARD TO THE ANACOSTIA RIVER IN WASHINGTON, DC. THIS IS A HOPE VI PROJECT, ONCE A PUBLIC HOUSING PROJECT, WITH A TOTAL OF 707 UNITS. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OTHIS REVITALIZED AREA IS PROVIDING ONE-FOR-ONE REPLACEMENT OF THE DEMOLISHED PUBLIC HOUSING UNITS IN THE SAME FOOTPRINT AS THE ORIGINAL DEVELOPMENT. THE DEVELOPMENT PLAN CALLS FOR THAN 1,600 NEW RENTAL AND HOME OWNERSHIP UNITS TO CREATE A THRIVING COMMUNITY. THE FIRST PHASE OPENED IN 2007. THIS NEIGHBORHOOD ALSO INCLUDES THE NATIONAL BASEBALL LEAGUE NATIONALS BALL PARK, WHICH OPENED IN THE SPRING OF 2008.
