IN 2013 THE CLENG PEERSON INSTITUTE OPENED THE CLENG PEESON RESEARCH LIBRARY. THIS PAST YEAR THE INSTITUTE COLLECTED HISTORIC BOOKS, DOCUMENTS AND LETTERS AND ORGANIZED THIS COLLECTION FOR USE BY HISTORIANS, SCHOLARS, AND RESEARCHERS. ON THE DAY IT OPENED IT BECAME THE LARGEST REPOSITORY OF NORWEGIAN DOCUMENTS AND PRINTED MATERIAL IN THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST. THE COLLECTION DOCUMENTS THE EARLY NORWEGIAN IMMIGRATION TO TEXAS FROM NORWAY. A MAJOR PURPOSE OF THE INSTITUTE IS TO PROVIDE OPERATING MONIES FOR THE LIBRARY AND ITS USE BY SCHOLARS. IN ADDITION THE INSTITUTE IS PREPARING TO HOST AN INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH SEMINAR IN OCTOBER 2015. THE INSTITUTE ALSO HOSTED DIGNITARIES AND RESEARCHERS FROM NORWAY AND AID IN THEIR RESEARCH ENDEAVORS IN TEXAS THIS PAST YEAR.
