THE INSTITUTE PROVIDES LEADERSHIP AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS. HANDS OFFERING HOPE OFFERS YEAR ROUND TUTORING PROGRAMMING, SCHOOL CLUBS AND A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES LEADERSHIP AND CAREER READINESS TRAINING TO STUDENTS IN RURAL MEXICO. IT ALSO OPERATES A YEAR-ROUND CULINARY INSTITUTE THAT TRAINS STUDENTS TO WORK IN THE MANY TOURIST AREAS IN THE REGION. IN 2022-23, THE FOLLOWING WAS ACCOMPLISHED: 1. TUTORING - PROVIDED WEEKLY TUTORING IN MATH, ENGLISH AND PUBLIC SPEAKING FOR 75 STUDENTS FROM AUGUST 2022 - JUNE 2023 2. LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE - SERVED OVER 200 STUDENTS AGES 5-19 PROVIDING MONTHLY LEADERSHIP TRAINING, A WINTER CONFERENCE AND SUMMER PROGRAMMING. STUDENTS AND PARENTS EXPRESSED A HIGH LEVEL OF SATISFACTION IN THE QUALITY OF THE PROGRAM. 3. CULINARY INSTITUTE - WELCOMED FIRST COHORT OF 8 STUDENTS WHO BEGAN CLASSES AND COMPETED IN (AND WON) NATIONAL COMPETITIONS. STUDENTS WERE PLACED IN A VARIETY OF INTERNSHIPS WITH LOCAL AND REGIONAL RESTAURANTS.
