OUR EFFORTS INCLUDE CREATING AND MANAGING FARMERS MARKETS, COOKING EDUCATION, GARDENING EDUCATION, NEW FARMER WORKSHOPS, HEALTHY FOOD ACCESS PROGRAMS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL FOOD SUPPLY CHAINS. FARM SUPPORT PROGRAM: AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN MANAGED TWO FARMERS MARKETS: (1) THE ALG ON-LINE FARMERS MARKET, A DIRECT-TO-CONSUMER FARMERS MARKET IN THE AUGUSTA AREA, WITH PICK-UP LOCATIONS IN TWO COUNTIES. THIS MARKET IS A SERVICE TO LOCAL FARMERS IN THAT IT SIGNIFICANTLY STREAMLINES THE MARKET PROCESS FOR MORE EFFECTIVE USE OF TIME AND RESOURCES FOR FARMERS. THIS MARKET RUNS YEAR-ROUND. (2) THE VEGGIE PARK FARMERS MARKET, A TRADITIONAL, DIRECT FARM-TO-CONSUMER MARKET IN A LOW-INCOME/LOW-ACCESS NEIGHBORHOOD. IT IS THE ONLY MARKET IN AUGUSTA THAT ACCEPTS AND DOUBLES SNAP.
