Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

SENIOR CHARITY CARE FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ELDERS IN NEED. OUR PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE IN SENIOR CARE SETTINGS AND SENIOR APARTMENTS WHO REQUIRE CARE, SERVICES OR SUPPORT BUT HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL OTHER POTENTIAL FUNDING SOURCES AND DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO PAY. WE ASSIST WITH BASIC HEALTH CARE NEEDS NOT COVERED BY MEDICARE OR MEDICAID (E.G. DENTAL CARE/DENTURES, HEARING AIDS AND EYE GLASSES).

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

SENIOR CHARITY CARE (SCC) ASSISTED OVER 239 UTAH SENIORS IN NEED OF DENTAL, VISION AND HEARING CARE. SENIORS LIVED IN 33 DIFFERENT LOW-INCOME SENIOR APARTMENTS AND HOUSING FACILITIES. SCC PROVIDED SERVICES TO 159 SENIORS WITH DENTAL NEEDS, 98 WITH VISION NEEDS AND 5 WITH HEARING NEEDS. EVERY YEAR, HUNDREDS OF SENIORS GO WITHOUT DENTAL, VISION, OR HEARING CARE. OF THE SENIORS WE SERVE, 61% SAID THEY DID NOT GET VISION CARE WHEN THEY NEEDED IT, AND 80% REPORTED THEY WENT WITHOUT DENTAL CARE. THE PRIMARY REASONS SENIORS GO WITHOUT THESE ELEMENTS OF HEALTHCARE ARE THAT THE SERVICES ARE TOO EXPENSIVE, THAT HEALTH INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER THE CARE AND LACK OF TRANSPORTATION TO VISIT THE DENTIST OR OPTOMETRIST. SCC BELIEVES THAT EVERY SENIOR SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO QUALITY HEALTH CARE, REGARDLESS OF INCOME OR INSURANCE STATUS. OUR MODEL FOCUSES ON AFFORDABLE MOBILE HEALTH CLINICS. WE BRING DENTAL AND VISION SERVICES DIRECTLY TO OUR CLIENTS. WE PROVIDE MOBILE VISION AND DENTAL SERVICES, AND ASSIST SENIOR CITIZENS IN OBTAINING HEARING AIDS, SERVICES NOT COVERED BY TRADITIONAL MEDICARE OR MEDICAID.
