Part 3

IMPACTS FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON ALTA'S ECONOMY LED TO REDUCED FUNDING FOR ACVB IN FY 21. PARTIALLY IN RESPONSE TO THIS REDUCTION IN FUNDING, THE ACVB BOARD OF DIRECTORS DECIDED NOT TO REHIRE FOR THE POSITION OF ACVB COORDINATOR, AFTER THE OCCUPANT OF THE POSITION TOOK ANOTHER JOB IN MARCH OF 2020. THE BOARD IS NOW RESPONSIBLE FOR MANAGING THE ORGANIZATION'S DAY- TO-DAY AFFAIRS. THE ACVB BOARD OF DIRECTORS BEGAN A STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS IN JULY OF 2020 THAT LED TO AN UPDATED MISSION STATEMENT AND BYLAWS, A NEW STRATEGIC PLAN, AND A PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES NO LONGER PRIMARILY FOCUSED ON DESTINATION MARKETING. ACVB PROGRAMS ARE NOW ORGANIZED IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES: DESTINATION MARKETING; VISITOR INFORMATION; PUBLIC ART AND EVENTS; AND MEMBER SERVICES. ACVB AND ANOTHER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION, ALTA COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT (ACE), BEGAN A PARTNERSHIP FOR ACE TO CARRY OUT CERTAIN ACVB PROGRAMS IN THE AREAS OF VISITOR INFORMATION AND PUBLIC ART AND EVENTS. DURING FY 21, ACE DEVELOPED ACVB MEMBER BUSINESS LISTINGS ON THE ACE WEBSITE, CONDUCTING SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS RELATED TO THE ALTA COMMUNITY AND ACVB MEMBERS, AND OFFERED PUBLIC ART AND EVENTS PROGRAMS INCLUDING AN ARTIST IN RESIDENCE SERIES. DESPITE REDUCED BUDGETS AND SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY, ACVB CONDUCTED LIMITED, TRADITIONAL DESTINATION MARKETING CAMPAIGNS IN THE FINAL MONTHS OF THE 20-21 SKI SEASON. AT THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR, THE ACVB BOARD DECLINED TO ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE TOWN OF ALTA, BECAUSE ACVB ACTIVITIES WERE LIMITED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, AND BECAUSE ACVB MAINTAINED CASH SAVINGS SUFFICIENT TO COVER ITS EXPENSES DURING THE YEAR.
