TO BRING PERCUSSION MUSIC TO NEW STAGES ACROSS THE WORLD, PRESENTING CONCERTS ON NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STAGES, AS WELL AS IN THE ENSEMBLE'S HOME CITY OF CHICAGO. PERFORMANCES INCLUDE REPERTOIRE FROM DIVERSE COMPOSITIONAL VOICES AND COLLABORATIONS WITH ORCHESTRAS, CHILDREN'S CHOIRS AND DANCERS. THE ENSEMBLE RELEASES COMMERCIAL ALBUMS AND STREAMING CONTENT OF ITS WORK.TO DEVELOP NEW REPERTOIRE FOR PERCUSSION, ENGAGING LEADING COMPOSERS AND MUSIC CREATORS OF MANY BACKGROUNDS THROUGH A DEEPLY COLLABORATIVE PROCESS TO CREATE NEW WORKS THAT SPEAK TO A RANGE OF MODERN EXPERIENCES; ANDTO BE ACTIVE IN ARTS EDUCATION BY PRESENTING OUTREACH AND EDUCATIONAL CONCERTS TO PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN, EXPOSING YOUNGER GENERATIONS TO MUSIC AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ARTS IN MODERN CULTURE AND SOCIETY, AND TO BE ACTIVE IN PRESENTING CLINICS AND MASTER-CLASSES TO STUDENTS AT MUSIC SCHOOLS, CONSERVATORIES AND UNIVERSITIES WITH THE GOAL OF EDUCATING FUTURE MUSIC PROFESSIONALS.

PERFORMANCE. THE FISCAL YEAR MARKED THE MOST ROBUST RETURN TO REGULAR PERFORMANCE ACTIVITIES SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WITH NEARLY ALL CONCERT ENGAGEMENTS BEING LIVE AND IN-PERSON. 36 CONCERT PERFORMANCES WERE PRESENTED. PERFORMANCES OCCURRED IN 14 U.S. STATES AS WELL AS BELGIUM, FRANCE, HONG KONG, LITHUANIA, AND THE NETHERLANDS. THE ENSEMBLE RECEIVED ITS 6TH GRAMMY NOMINATION FOR THEIR ALBUM "PERSPECTIVES", RELEASED THEIR EP ALBUM "CURRENTS VOLUME 2", RECORDED A NEW FULL-LENGTH ALBUM TO BE RELEASED THE FOLLOWING SEASON, AND RECORDED AND RELEASED 18 WORKS FOR STREAMING VIDEO PLATFORMS.
YOUTH EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES. SIMILAR TO LIVE PERFORMING, THE FISCAL YEAR WAS A FULL RETURN TO IN-PERSON EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITES. THIRD COAST PERCUSSION PROVIDED 76 EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCES, CLASSES, AND CLINICS TO K12 SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY CENTERS, SENIOR CENTERS, AND COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES THROUGHOUT THE U.S. AND HONG KONG. THIRD COAST PERCUSSION CONTINUED ITS CHICAGO-BASED EDUCATIONAL INITITATIVE "EMBARK" IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PEOPLE'S MUSIC SCHOOL, DEVELOPED NEW INTERACTIVE DRUMMING WORKSHOPS AND CURRICULA FOR K-12 GRADE AND ADULT GROUPS, AND RECORDED AND RELEASED MULTIPLE EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS FOR ONLINE STREAMING PLATFORMS.
COMMISSIONING NEW WORKS. THIRD COAST PERCUSSION COMMISSIONED AND PREMIERED 8 NEW MUSCIAL WORKS DURING THEIR PERFORMANCE SEASON. THE ENSEMBLE COMPLETED ITS 9TH ANNUAL "CURRENTS CREATIVE PARTNERSHIP", A PROGRAM THAT SELECTS YOUNG MUSIC CREATORS FROM ACROSS THE WORLD TO COLLABORATE WITH THE ENSEMBLE IN CREATING NEW WORKS, THIS YEAR EXPANDING FROM 2 TO 3 TOTAL MUSIC CREATORS SELECTED FOR THE PARTNERSHIP. THIRD COAST PERCUSSION'S PREVIOUS COMMISSION, "PERSPECTIVE" BY JERRILYNN PATTON, WAS HONORED AS A FINALIST FOR THE 2023 PULITZER PRIZE IN MUSIC.
