SUMMER OF THE ARTS OFFERS EXPOSURE TO FREE, FAMILY-FRIENDLY ARTS AND CULTURE THROUGH THE IOWA ARTS FESTIVAL, IOWA CITY JAZZ FESTIVAL, SOUL AND BLUES FESTIVAL, FRIDAY NIGHT CONCERT SERIES, NORTHSIDE CONCERT SERIES, MUSIC ON THE MOVE AND FREE MOVIE SERIES.
A CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP WITH OAKNOLL RETIREMENT COMMUNITY TO PRODUCE A SUMMER CONCERT SERIES TO BE HELD AT THEIR RESIDENCE IN THEIR OUTDOOR COURTYARD BEGAN IN 2016 AND WAS EXTENDED WITH A MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT. THE GOAL OF THIS COLLABORATION WAS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE ARTS, AND SPECIFICALLY MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT, ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL. MANY OF THE RESIDENTS AT OAKNOLL ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND SUMMER OF THE ARTS FESTIVALS HELD IN DOWNTOWN IOWA CITY, SO THIS PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY SPECIAL OUTDOOR EVENTS IN A BEAUTIFUL LOCATION.
