THE BRAIN INJURY ALLIANCE WORKS TO INCREASE AVAILABILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY OF SERVICES AND SUPPORTS FOR PEOPLE WITH BRAIN INJURY AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE ORGANIZATION MAINTAINS A STATEWIDE PROGRAM OF ADVOCACY, EDUCATION AND PREVENTION.

ORGANIZATION HAD MORE THAN 20,000 DIRECT CALLS AND CONTACTS WITH IOWANS AFFECTED BY BRAIN INJURY AS WELL AS PROFESSIONALS REQUESTING INFORMATION AND SUPPORT. NEURO RESOURCE FACILITATION STAFF MEMBERS WERE SUPPORTING MORE THAN 6,000 ACTIVE CALLERS AT THE END OF THE YEAR. THAT IS ABOUT 1,100 ACTIVE CALLERS FOR EACH NEURO RESOURCE FACILITATOR. THE ORGANIZATION DISTRIBUTED BY MAIL MORE THAN 1,700 RESOURCES STATEWIDE TO SURVIVORS, FAMILIES, CAREGIVERS AND PROFESSIONALS. IN ADDITION, SEVERAL HUNDRED RESOURCES WERE PROVIDED VIA EMAIL AND THROUGH TELEPHONE CALLS.
IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED 63 COMMUNITY-BASED TRAINING PROGRAMS TO MORE THAN 1,500 PEOPLE. TOPICS INCLUDED AMBIGUOUS LOSS, BRAIN INJURY 101, BFAIN INJRY COPING SKILLS, BI AND CRIMINAL JUSTICCE, BI AND CHILDRENS' BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, BI AND EMPLOYMENT, CRISIS INTERVENTION TRAINING, ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY, COMMUNICATION FOR DIFFICULT CONVERSATONS, BI AND MULTI-OCCURRING CONDITIONS, COVID 19 AND NEUROLOGICAL FUNCTIONING, CERTIFIED BRAIN INJURY SPECIALIST TRAINING, BRAIN INJURY FUNDAMENTALS COURSES, CONCUSSION, GUARDIANSHIP, HYPOXIC AND ANOXIC BRAIN INJURY, PERSON CENTERED CARE, SCREENING FOR BRAIN INJURY, INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE AND BRAIN INJURY, WOMEN AND BRAIN INJURY, BRAIN INJURY IN THE SCHOOL SETTING.
