PROMOTION OF LIVING LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY GLOBALLY THROUGH THE DOCUMENTATION, MAINTENANCE, PRESERVATION, AND REVITALIZATION OF ENDANGERED LANGUAGES AND THE CREATION OF INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE PEDAGOGICAL MATERIALS.

A COMPREHENSIVE DOCUMENTATION OF THE SORA LANGUAGE OF INDIA, FUNDED BY THE NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION. DELIVERABLES INCLUDE A GRAMMAR, DICTIONARY AND TEXT COLLECTION AS WELL AS SHORTER STUDIES ON HOW SORA FITS IN OR DOES NOT WITH OTHER LANGUAGES OF THE REGION.


THE ZIMBABWE LANGUAGE PROJECT CONSISTS OF A TRAINING COURSE IN DIGITAL LITERACY SKILLS AND CREATION OF MULTI-MEDIA (PHOTO, SOUND, TEXT) TALKING DICTIONARIES FOR SEVEN LANGUAGES OF ZIMBABWE (SHONA, NDEBELE, NAMBYA, CHIKUNDA, KALANGA, NDAU AND TSHWAO). PARTICIPANTS LEARNED HOW TO USE DIGITAL AUDIO RECORDERS, DIGITAL CAMERAS AND COMPUTERS/TABLETS TO RECORD AND PROCESS DATA TO CREATE VARIOUS MULTI-MEDIA, ONLINE AND PRINT RESOURCES.


THIS PROJECT FOCUSES ON THE BABANKI (KEJOM) LANGUAGE OF CAMEROON. THE PROJECT ENTAILS DEVELOPMENT OF AN ONLINE MUTLI-MEDIA DICTIONARY AS WELL AS MATERIALS TO BE USED IN BABANKI LANGUAGE EDUCATIONAL CURRICULA IN CAMEROON. THE LANGUAGE IS AT RISK DUE TO AN ONGOING CIVIL WAR.
