NEMAA PRESENTS ART-A-WHIRL (AAW) IN NORTHEAST MINNEAPOLIS ANNUALLY DURING THE THIRD WEEKEND OF MAY. DURING AAW, PRIVATE STUDIOS AND GALLERIES ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, CREATING A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR ARTISTS AND COMMUNITY TO CONNECT. OVER 800 NEMAA ARTISTS MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN 60 LOCATIONS, AND HUNDREDS OF LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AND BUSINESSES BECOME MEMBERS AND ADVERTISERS. NEMAA PRINTS OVER 20,000 ARTISTS DIRECTORIES/AAW GUIDES TO DISTRIBUTE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, COORDINATES THREE FREE TROLLEYS AND INFO STATIONS. PARTICIPATING ARTISTS: 800, NUMBER OF VISITORS NORMALLY: 40, 000. THE 2021 ART-A-WHIRL WAS A HYBRID OF ONLINE AND IN-PERSON OPEN STUDIOS, DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. NO DIRECTORY/GUIDE WAS PRINTED, AND NO TROLLEYS WERE HIRED. ESTIMATED 10,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED IN PERSON AND 25,000 ONLINE. FALL OPEN STUDIOS. A SEASONAL COUNTERPOINT TO ART-A-WHIRL, FALL OPEN STUDIOS SERVES AS THE UMBRELLA TERM FOR SEVERAL INDIVIDUAL OPEN STUDIO EVENTS WHICH NEMAA COMPILES AND DISTRIBUTES INFORMATION FOR, PROVIDING PROMOTION FOR THE PARTICIPANTS.
