SAINT PAUL BALLET'S VISION IS TO REJOICE IN THE BEAUTY AND IMMEDIACY OF DANCE WITH THE WIDEST POSSIBLE AUDIENCE AND TO LIFT THE HUMAN SPIRIT THROUGH THE ART OF BALLET. ITS MISSION IS TO PROVIDE THE FINEST DANCE EDUCATION, REDUCE BARRIERS TO INVOLVEMENT IN THE ART OF DANCE, AND PERFORM A VIBRANT REPERTORY WITH A PASSION FOR THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF EXCELLENCE.

ST. PAUL BALLET PRESENTED A WORK ON THE PROGRAM OF HATCH DANCE'S OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE LIVE@THESHED IN AUGUST 2021. THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE OF THE NUTCRACKER WAS MODIFIED TO THE BEST OF THE NUTCRACKER DECEMBER 11-12, 2021 FOR A LIVE-AUDIENCE IN THE THEATER. THE FIRST THEATER PERFORMANCES SINCE 2019 PRE-PANDEMIC. IN APRIL 2022 SPB COLLABORATED WITH THE SCIENCE MUSEUM OF MINNESOTA FOR THEIR GALA AND GAVE PREVIEW PERFORMANCES IN THE MUSEUM OF THE ANNUAL SPRING SHOWCASE WHICH WAS HELD AT EM PEARSON THEATER IN MAY 2022. AUDIENCES APPROX. 2500.
CLASSES BEGAN IN-PERSON AGAIN IN SUMMER 2021. SCHEDULES WERE MODIFIED TO INCREASE FLEXIBLE OFFERINGS FOR DANCERS AND FAMILIES WHO WOULD NOT BE TRAVELLING FOR PRE-PROFESSIONAL SUMMER COURSES DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. IN SEPTEMBER ALL CLASSES BEGAN FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR IN-PERSON WITH COVID PRECAUTIONS. STUDENT ENROLLMENT WAS STILL DOWN CONSIDERABLY BUT ADULT CLASSES BEGAN TO SEE MARKED INCREASES DUE TO AVAILABILITY OF VACCINE AND OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PROOF OF VACCINATION. ALSO, WE LEARNED THAT ADULT STUDENTS WHO HAD ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY BALLET FELT THIS WAS THE TIME AS THE PANDEMIC WAS THE IMPETUS FOR NOT WAITING FOR CHANGE AND EXPLORATION. STUDENTS SERVED: AGES 2-18 APPROX.80; AGES 18+ APPROX.70; AGES 65+: APPROX. 20
SPB CONTINUED ITS COLLABORATION OF STUDIO SPACE WITH CAAM CHINESE DANCE THEATER FOR THE FISCAL YEAR AND CONTINUED RENTING, AT GREATLY REDUCED RATES, TO SEVERAL PROFESSIONAL DANCE COMPANIES TO HELP THE OVERALL DANCE COMMUNITY OF THE TWINCITIES. SOME OUTREACH ACTIVITIES HAVE NOT YET BEEN REINSTATED AS SPB AND OUR PARTNERS REMAINED VIGILANT ON COVID PRECAUTIONS AND SELECTION OF ACTIVITIES. A COLLABORATIVE OPEN HOUSE WAS HELD WITH ALL OF THE ARTS ORGANIZATIONS AT SPB'S LOCATION IN OCTOBER 2022 OUTDOORS IN THE PARKING LOT AND WAS ATTENDED BY ABOUT 400 PEOPLE OF ALL AGES.
