PANGEA WORLD THEATER PRODUCES, COMMISSIONS AND PRESENTS MULTIDISCIPLINARY THEATER THAT CHALLENGES THE EXPECTATION OF OUR AUDIENCES AND ARTISTS. PANGEA'S INNOVATIVE PLAYS AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES EXPLORE THE RELEVANT AND DIVISIVE THEMES OF OUR TIMES - EXILE, IMMIGRATION, HUMAN RIGHTS, RACE, FREEDOM AND CROSS-CULTURAL EXPRESSION. PANGEA USUALLY PERFORMS 2-3 PLAYS A YEAR, 2-3 PRESENTATIONS OF NATIONAL TOURING ARTISTS, 3-5 READINGS OF NEW PLAYS IN DEVELOPMENT AND NEW COMMISSIONS, HOSTS 10-12 PERFORMANCES IN OUR STUDIO, AND SERVES 8,000-10,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS EVERY YEAR. BEING A COVID YEAR, WE CANCELLED ALL IN PERSON PERFORMANCES. ALL PERFORMANCES WERE HELD OUTDOORS AND ON ZOOM. PANGEA CONTINUED PRESENTING WORK ONLINE AND OUTDOORS, INCLUDING THE PREMIERE OF RIVER SOLS, WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY CARLTON TURNER AND DIPANKAR MUKHERJEE; THIS IS HOW WE STAND, A MULTIDISCIPLINARY ART EXPLORATION CURATED BY SUZANNE VICTORIA CROSS; BEYOND CLIMATE ANXIETY INTO ACTION, A POETRY WORKSHOP BY BERNARD FERGUSON; THE BURNING TRUTH PROJECT, CREATED AND PERFORMED BY KATIA CARDENAS, ANDRINA BROGDEN, AND SARAH GREER. SEVERAL OF THESE EVENTS ARE PART OF THE SERIES PANGEA ARTISTS ENVISION, IN WHICH PANGEA ARTISTS ON STAFF CURATE ARTS EVENTS IN RESPONSE TO THE MOST PRESSING ISSUES OF OUR TIMES. PANGEA'S ANNUAL GALA: ROOTING COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITIES WAS OUR FIRST IN-PERSON FUNDRAISER SINCE THE ONSET OF COVID-19. THE TRANSITION STAGE, A COMMUNITY-ENGAGED ARTS INSTALLATION CREATED BY ANGELA TWO STARS AND COMMISSIONED BY PANGEA WORLD THEATER AND HOLY TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, COMPLETED ITS FIRST PHASE, WHEREIN WE ERECTED A 10-FOOT INTERACTIVE COCOON SCULPTURE THAT HELD OVER 500 LAMENTS, REFLECTIONS, AND THOUGHTS CONTRIBUTED BY RESIDENTS OF THE LONGFELLOW NEIGHBORHOOD. ENTERING PHASE II, ANGELA TWO STARS COLLECTED ALL THE COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS AND BEGAN STITCHING THEM INTO A TWO-DIMENSIONAL CANVAS SHAPED LIKE A BUTTERFLY. THIS WAS PART OF OUR LAKE STREET ARTS! PROGRAM. WE ALSO SELF -PUBLISHED AN ARCHIVE OF LAKE STREET STORY CIRCLES CONSISTING OF STORIES OF PEOPLE ON LAKE STREET AND HAVE DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 500 COPIES. WE HAVE COMPLETED A SERIES OF SITE SPECIFIC PRESENTATIONS AS WELL AS EVENTS ON ZOOM. THE COMBINED PARTICIPANTS AND AUDIENCE OF OUR LAKE STREET ARTS! SERIES WAS APPROXIMATELY 1500 PEOPLE.PANGEA SPENT THE YEAR PLANNING FOR THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR DIRECTING AND ENSEMBLE CREATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ART2ACTION. OUR SECOND VIRTUAL DIRECTING INSTITUTE TOOK PLACE DECEMBER 2021. THIS INSTITUTE LASTED THREE DAYS, AND IT INCLUDED INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, MASTERCLASSES, AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR NETWORKING/RELATIONSHIP BUILDING. THIS WAS ALSO BROADCAST TO A NATIONAL VIRTUAL AUDIENCE VIA HOWLROUND.
