MERRILL ARTS CENTER (FORMERLY MERRILL COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER) OPERATES TWO LOCATIONS TO CHAMPION THE ARTS INCLUDING: PERFORMING ARTS, THEATER, MUSIC THEATER, MUSIC, & DANCE REHEARSALS, CLASSES AND PERFORMANCES, VISUAL ARTS SHOWS, COSTUME STORAGE AND SET/PROPS CONSTRUCTION AND ARTS ADMINISTRATION. MAC CHAMPIONS THE ARTS BY RUNNING ITS OWN PROGRAMS (MAC THEATER, FORMERLY WOODBURY COMMUNITY THEATRE), SOS FOR YOUTH PEER-TO-PEER EDUCATION, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING FOR ALL AGES); PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR AFFILLIATE GROUPS (EAST METRO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA & ARTISTS OF WOODBURY); PARTNERING WITH LOCAL ARTS ORGANIZATIONS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE ARTS (SOUTH WASHINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT, SAMPLE NIGHT LIVE, WOODBURY DANCE CENTER); AND BY RENTING SUBSIDIZED ARTIST REHEARSAL, STUDIO, CLASSROOM AND PERFORMANCE SPACE TO LOCAL ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS (JULIE SWEET STUDIOS, DEL MONICO DANCE, PASSPORT THEATRE MIDWEST VOCAL MUSIC ACADEMY).
